“What Is The Root Cause Of Antisemitism And Collective Hatred Towards The Jewish People And Their Faith?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is the root cause of antisemitism and collective hatred towards the Jewish people and their faith?

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, the Jewish people bear the method of humanity’s correction, and negative phenomena in the world surface more and more due to the Jewish people’s failure to implement this method.

In other words, according to Kabbalah, Jews are responsible for the world’s correction. By failing to accept such a responsibility, and instead seeking to find success in this world, hatred against the Jews subconsciously dwells in non-Jews.

Antisemitism will continue until the Jewish people correct their connections up to a point where they unite “as one man with one heart,” and by spreading the method of such correction, they will realize their destiny as “a light unto the nations.”

If the Jewish people succeed in fulfilling their mission, it will act as a true solution for antisemitism. That is one of the points that the Kabbalah sages have stated throughout the generations. The Jewish people have to be corrected and connected, and through such unity, love will spread to the rest of the world. Then, all nations will respect and honor the Jews.

“How Does One Achieve Balance?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanDr Michael Laitman, On Quora: How does one achieve balance?

We exist in nature and an immense amount of natural phenomena influence us, such as temperature, pressure, vibrations, waves, radioactivity, among others, and we need to live in balance with them.

The physical law in relation to balance is that an organism living in a state of balance with its environment is in its most comfortable state. If the temperature, pressure, or another parameter increases or decreases even a little, then the organism feels bad.

This is how we are made in nature: we can exist in nature within certain limits, and in these limits, we need to make ourselves equal to nature around us. For instance, in winter, we need to dress warmly in order to be in balance with nature, and in summer, it is the opposite, and so on.

That is balance in relation to what we see and feel with our senses. However, there is another imperceptible part of nature. Its laws are at the level of desires—laws of altruism and connection—and we need to conform to these laws in order to be in balance with them.

The problem is that we do not know these laws. We think that we are good people in this world if we donate, help the poor, don’t bother other people, pay our taxes, help the elderly across the street, and several other seemingly altruistic actions. Is it not enough to do such acts in order to balance with the laws of altruism and connection?

Not only is it not enough, but doing such actions means nothing at all in relation to observing the law of altruism and connection, because we do only what we understand with our egoistic mind, which calculates constantly in the opposite direction of altruism. In order to reach balance with nature in its entirety, we need to study nature and aspire to resemble it.

This law of equivalence of form is the single law that we need to obey. Every day we change, grow and become somebody else. Therefore, on a daily—and even moment-by-moment—basis, we need to correct and adjust our balance with nature.

As such, we need to first learn what nature demands of us, and then check whether we meet those demands, in order to enter into balance with nature. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah is for. It discusses what nature is, how it works, what and where we are in this nature, the sense and the parameters in which we lack correspondence with nature, and how can we achieve balance with them. By applying ourselves to the method of Kabbalah, we progressively change ourselves and enter into balance with nature.

“How Can You Forgive Someone Who Commits Murder?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How can you forgive someone who commits murder?

In 1994, the devastating Rwandan genocide saw the murder of around 800,000 Rwandans. When a new government came about, it established the state forgiveness project: perpetrators of the genocide had to ask the survivors and victims’ family members for forgiveness, and the survivors had to forgive those who committed the genocide. The decision was made: although it is very hard to do, it is the price we must pay.

If the victims can overcome their desire for vengeance, we will be able to heal through forgiveness. Otherwise, we will face a cycle of murders and hatred. Although Rwanda is still struggling, the country managed to break the vicious cycle of hostility.

Can we truly forgive murderers? Yes, we can. Either consciously, we can attract a positive force into our lives that lets us do so (which is possible with the method of Kabbalah), or unconsciously, we can do so by law, by understanding that there is no other way. Yet the greatest and most exalted way to forgive murderers is by comprehending that a positive force is operating us all. Here, we must agree that such a setup was not created by us, nor was it our doing. We were governed by the same higher power, which is good and omnipotent.

“Do You Agree With Daniel Craig’s Decision Not To Leave A Large Sum Of Money To His Children As Inheritance?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Do you agree with Daniel Craig’s decision not to leave a large sum of money to his children as inheritance?

By giving children more than what they need in order to start building themselves, it will just corrupt them in the end.

Love encompasses giving your children opportunities to develop, to enjoy the fruits of their own labor, by providing them with a good education and a profession that they will enjoy and make a living from.

A father’s love is expressed through encouragement and motivation, i.e., in giving the first push. The children will not understand this at the time of the push, but the understanding will settle later.

“Can You Influence Plant Growth With Your Thoughts?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Can you influence plant growth with your thoughts?

We influence not only plants with our thoughts, but also animals and even stones. However, we cannot yet examine such phenomena.

There is absolute interconnection and interaction between all parts of creation. If we saw this network of forces, we would find that only we humans are a negative harmful element in this system of forces.

Neither inanimate, vegetative or animate forms of matter have freewill. They have no egoism, i.e. a desire to enjoy at the expense of the other. They exist according to the laws that nature has embedded into them. Humans, however, due to our freewill and our egoism, become the only harmful elements in nature.

“Is Kabbalah Accepted By Judaism?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Is Kabbalah accepted by Judaism?

Kabbalah is the wisdom of the revelation of the Creator, the system of the attainment of the upper revelation, a sublime truth and superior knowledge. Religion deals with none of that.

A religious person must know how to follow rules and live within their boundaries. Kabbalah, however, leads to the attainment of the upper world.

Kabbalah is not a religion, but a science. It does not relate to religions, beliefs, extrasensory methods, or even Judaism. Orthodox Jews will commonly answer the question, “Do you know the wisdom of Kabbalah?” by saying that not only do they not know it, but they think that there is no need to know it. And the response will be correct, as the wisdom of Kabbalah is unnecessary for those who are occupied with religious rituals.

Moreover, the wisdom of Kabbalah intensifies both the desire to receive and the desire for knowledge, based on self-awareness and the attainment of the upper world. Religions, however, are built on self-restriction and abstemiousness.

“How Can We Solve Natural Disasters?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How can we solve natural disasters?

We need to start understanding and digesting the changes taking place in nature. We should start by responding to them from our human level, which is the highest of nature’s levels: inanimate, vegetative, animate and human. In other words, we should improve human connections by correcting ourselves.

Our correction is in shifting our focus from self-benefit to benefiting others and nature. Even though there is a tremendous gap between our egos, which operate by self-absorption, and positive human connection, which requires opposite altruistic attitudes—through our correction, we can correct all harmful impacts from nature.

At the moment, humanity is far from such understanding. We engage ourselves with band-aid solutions that fail to reach the core of the disasters, and we thus solve nothing. We should rather deal with everything from the highest level, from where these harmful events emerge—the point of our detachment from the upper force. If we correct our connection at that point, then the rest of nature will calm down, and there will be no more natural calamities.

Fighting phenomena such as fires and floods at the level of the fires and the floods simply shows our weakness. It shows a lack of understanding of the level in which we are supposed to act on. If we fought natural disasters on the level of our disconnection from each other and from nature, then we would enter into balance with nature at a higher level, and we would then experience that balance throughout the lower levels.

“Is Evolution Truly Random?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Is evolution truly random?

Evolution is not random. If we perceive anything random in nature, it only appears to us as random because we lack understanding of how nature truly operates. Nature’s laws are very clearly determined. Nothing in history happened coincidentally, and nothing today is unfolding by chance either.

The driving force of evolution is the constant growth of a desire through four levels: inanimate, vegetative, animate and human. The process of increasing globalization we now experience is due to these desires reaching their satiation and from a linear development where we could always find new solutions within our range of desires, we have reached a stage where we are becoming increasingly “rounded,” i.e. globally interconnected and interdependent.

When we understand the forces acting on our evolution, then we can understand what is required to further evolve in either a painful or a harmonious manner. The painful path is via increasing crises that lead to reduction of the human population, and the harmonious path is by implementing connection-enriching education based on revealing to humanity the real world and nature we live in.

We currently fail to perceive a lot of what is around us, and we have no clue about the forces acting on us. We do not know what we will think and want in the next moment. All of a sudden, a thought or a desire surfaces, from where? It comes to us from the secret hidden part of reality that we need to disclose. The wisdom of Kabbalah is a method, called a “secret science,” which lets us reveal that hidden part of reality.

When we perceive the entire system, the relations between us on the human level and with the other levels of nature, then we naturally start thinking and acting in a way that is balanced and harmonious with nature, shifting our evolution to a positive direction.

“Dating And Relationships: What Are The Keys To A Successful Relationship?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Dating and Relationships: What are the keys to a successful relationship?

The key to a successful relationship is in the willingness to concede. Upon mutual concessions, partners have the ability to grow their love for each other.

One who concedes in a relationship gains peace, connection, tranquility and love. It leads to positive connection and one that is not based on pride and domination. My teacher, Rabash, once used to say that “a family can exist only out of mutual concessions.” We need to love, to treat each other amiably, concede to each other, and by doing so we gain a sensation that we call “love.”

Concession depends solely on you. There is no need to pressure the other. If you exercise concession, then you will see what a powerful weapon it is, and through your examples to concede, you will simply win over your partner.

“What Are The Biggest Challenges Facing Humanity These Days? Why Are They A Big Deal?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What are the biggest challenges facing humanity these days? Why are they a big deal?

Increasing pain and suffering around the world should end up sparking our realization that nature is guiding us to an eventual abstinence from the rat race for technological, industrial and financial dominance, and we should instead pay attention to our human development, to the education we need to give—not only to children, but to entire nations, to humanity.

International relations have become sour, and the more sour they become, the more they pose a threat. I think that as a result of the increasing pain and suffering in the world, we will start understanding that we have no choice but to start nurturing positive human connections.

Nature will no longer let us progress in divisive directions, but will force us to unite—if not voluntarily then through suffering. Therefore, humanity’s greatest challenge is in uniting above division in order to reach balance with nature. Until we align with nature, the pain and suffering we experience, as bitter as it is, functions to heal us.
