There Is No Such Thing As Fatigue – Laitman Unplugged

Social Rejection Linked To Later Health Outcomes

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from ScienceDaily): “No matter which way you look at it, rejection hurts. Experiencing rejection from a boss, a friend, or a partner is difficult enough for many adults to handle. But adolescents, who are dealing with the one-two punch of biological and social change, may be the most vulnerable to its negative effects.

“In a new study published in Clinical Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, researcher Michael Murphy of the University of British Columbia and colleagues examine the human immune response as a potential link between social stressors like rejection and later mental and physical health outcomes.

“There are many kinds of stressors that increase our risk for disease, but stressors that threaten our social standing, such as targeted rejection, seem to be particularly harmful.

“Many people are probably familiar with targeted rejection from their school days, when a student was actively and intentionally rejected by another student or a group of students. It’s the kind of behavior that we see in so many cases of ostracism and bullying.

“’Targeted rejection is central to some of life’s most distressing experiences – things like getting broken up with, getting fired, and being excluded from your peer group at school,’ said Murphy. ‘In this study, we aimed to examine processes that may give these experiences the ability to affect health.’

“Previous research has shown that people who are on the receiving end of this kind of rejection experience symptoms of depression three times faster than people who are faced with similarly severe life events. Researchers believe that certain inflammatory processes that are part of the immune response could be a link between targeted rejection and depression.

“The researchers note, however, that an overly productive immune response can be harmful to mental and physical health in the long run. If substantiated in future research, these findings could have implications for understanding how social conditions increase risk for a variety of inflammation-related diseases, including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, certain types of cancer, and depression.”

My Comment: Undoubtedly, nothing is more harmful to our egoistic nature than a feeling of neglect. It causes violent feelings and physiological reactions that mobilize the entire body and make it capable of the most critical steps. There is only one treatment: to correct man and society!

“Smiling Reduces Stress And Helps The Heart”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Medical News Today): “A new study suggests that holding a smile on one’s face during periods of stress may help the heart. The study, due to be published in a forthcoming issue of Psychological Science, lends support to the old adage ‘grin and bear it,’ suggesting it may also make us feel better.

“The study is the work of psychological scientists Tara Kraft and Sarah Pressman of the University of Kansas. They looked at how different types of smiling, and people being aware of smiling, affected their ability to recover from stressful episodes. …

“The age-old saying suggests smiling not only signals happiness to others, but could also be a way to help cope with life stresses. …

“They found the participants who were instructed to smile, and in particular those whose faces expressed genuine or Duchenne smiles, had lower heart rates after recovery from the stress activities than the ones who held their faces in neutral expressions.”

My Comment: These actions also cause the upper correcting force OM (Ohr Makif) even as we want to get closer to spiritual states in which we are not present at all, by our mechanical efforts to become similar to them, we attract these desired states to ourselves. It is the same principle, and that is why it works. We are in the same system of forces of the world of infinity and if we use the likeness to the higher degree, to that extent we receive something from it.

Is Spiritual Healing Possible?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: When the Creator is revealed to a doctor, what will the doctor discover?

Answer: In other words, if a doctor wants to help people, will the science of Kabbalah help him to find causes of ailments, prevent diseases, and identify new possibilities for healing? No, the doctor will understand better the relationship of health issues and their complexity, but, in general, I cannot say that he will achieve any particular success. On the contrary, he will be the same as other doctors.

The Creator does not change the original action (Maase Beresheet). Many Kabbalists were involved in healing, at least partially or at the professional level, for example, the Rambam (Maimonides). This tendency can be explained by the fact that they knew the general order of things. Yet, they did not “see through” each patient and did not do “miracle cures.”

There is one problem: When a Kabbalist sees the world in which people suffer from ailments, is he able to heal them or should he ask the Creator? Should he, perhaps, encourage them to ask to be healed or to understand the root reason of the illness and pray for a correction that will cure, including the physical ailment?

You are looking for a special, spiritual medicine that will allow the curing of everyone and, thus, get around the Creator as if He sends evil and you bring good. However, more complex relationships are hidden here, and another work is revealed. In the end, a doctor will remain a doctor, and spiritual attainment will barely affect his profession.

“Unhappiness By The Numbers”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Healthline): “As if depression weren’t bad enough, statistics show that diagnoses are growing at an alarming rate. In addition, states with higher rates of depression also show high rates of other negative health outcomes, such as obesity, heart disease, and stroke. … Despite all of these statistics on depression, this infographic shows that many people suffer symptoms of depression without seeking care, and that undiagnosed depression costs the U.S. millions of dollars each year.”

My Comment: Since the entire nature is the desire to enjoy, from the desire to maintain its structure in inanimate matter to the desire to develop maximally in the animate nature, then the feeling of emptiness is the most obvious sensation in the desire, its “exposed” suffering. That is why precisely in our time is when egoism must begin its correction, it discovers emptiness, a lack of fulfillment.

This is intended to assist us in correcting egoism, rejecting it. And instead, we invent methods of satisfying it, and thus just increase and extend our suffering. If like a smart child, we had understood at once that we should do otherwise, we would have quickly come out of suffering and found a comfortable existence. But we are like the stubborn fool who wants to act in his own way, and as a result, we increase our suffering and stretch it for many years.

People Don’t Die From Illness, But From Loneliness

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from The New York Times): “The report, in the Archives of Internal Medicine, is the largest yet to tease out the impact of loneliness on people in their later years. Geriatricians at the University of California, San Francisco, asked 1,604 adults age 60 and older how often they felt isolated or left out, or lacked companionship. The researchers were attempting to quantify the feeling of loneliness — a sense of not having meaningful contact with others, accompanied by painful distress. …

“Lonely older adults also were 45 percent more likely to die than seniors who felt meaningfully connected with others, even after results were adjusted for factors like depression, socioeconomic status and existing health conditions.

“The emphasis on meaningful connections goes to the heart of what loneliness is and is not. It is not the same thing as being alone: 62.5 percent of older adults who reported being lonely in this new study were married. Nor is it simply a paucity of social contacts. As has been observed many times, people can feel lonely even when surrounded by others if their interactions lack emotional depth and resonance.”

My Comment: Man is created as a social being and cannot provide himself with everything necessary, especially in old age, so anxiety fills his existence. But we can correct this only through changing our nature, by creating a friendly society that will affect everyone so when the time comes, a person will be in a healthy old age peacefully falling asleep in his last sleep.

Life Without Illness

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Should we teach the issue of “a healthy lifestyle” in the basic course of integral education?

Answer: Actually many articles have been published lately on this topic that present statistics showing how diseases and health problems will diminish if we keep the correct relations among us.

Of course there will also be fewer murders, rapes, acts of violence, and other types of social tensions, and accordingly, it will be reflected in the overall health of people and of society.

But there is another reason for this: A person simply becomes more balanced.

All of our problems stem from internal imbalance; if we balance the relations among us and all the systems begin to function harmoniously, all the diseases will disappear.

Theoretically, it is clear even from the data presented by integral systems theories, a person shouldn’t hurt at all.

He simply needs to be healthy and relaxed, as if about to fall asleep, and die, even without feeling this transition, meaning all should go be very easy and simple so that the analog, integral goes through this change where the human level gradually descends to the animate level, and from the animate level to the vegetative level, and then gradually wanes. If you descend these levels gradually, you don’t feel that you are dead, but it is as if you gradually fall asleep, and then you are gone, and that’s it.

There is a lot of good statistical material on the issue of health, and so it is a good idea to include it in our lectures.

On the whole, all the problems that exist in society today, we should show statistically and graphically, using videos so people will actually discover: “Wow, this is where we live! Wow, what a problem!” Not everyone else understands and has faced it; yet at the same time, together with the problem, we must immediately provide the solution for it.

If You Want To Be Happy, Then Just Let It Be!

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from The Wall Street Journal): “The relentless pursuit of happiness may be doing us more harm than good.

“Some researchers say happiness as people usually think of it—the experience of pleasure or positive feelings—is far less important to physical health than the type of well-being that comes from engaging in meaningful activity. Researchers refer to this latter state as ‘eudaimonic well-being.’

“Some of the newest evidence suggests that people who focus on living with a sense of purpose as they age are more likely to remain cognitively intact, have better mental health and even live longer than people who focus on achieving feelings of happiness.

“In fact, in some cases, too much focus on feeling happy can actually lead to feeling less happy, researchers say.

“The pleasure that comes with, say, a good meal, an entertaining movie or an important win for one’s sports team—a feeling called ‘hedonic well-being’—tends to be short-term and fleeting. Raising children, volunteering or going to medical school may be less pleasurable day to day. But these pursuits give a sense of fulfillment, of being the best one can be, particularly in the long run.

“’Eudaimonia’ is a Greek word associated with Aristotle and often mistranslated as ‘happiness’—which has contributed to misunderstandings about what happiness is. Some experts say Aristotle meant “well-being” when he wrote that humans can attain eudaimonia by fulfilling their potential. Today, the goal of understanding happiness and well-being, beyond philosophical interest, is part of a broad inquiry into aging and why some people avoid early death and disease. Psychologists investigating eudaimonic versus hedonic types of happiness over the past five to 10 years have looked at each type’s unique effects on physical and psychological health.…

“For instance, symptoms of depression, paranoia and psychopathology have increased among generations of American college students from 1938 to 2007, according to a statistical review published in 2010 in Clinical Psychology Review. Researchers at San Diego State University who conducted the analysis pointed to increasing cultural emphasis in the U.S. on materialism and status, which emphasize hedonic happiness, and decreasing attention to community and meaning in life, as possible explanations.…

“Simply engaging in activities that are likely to promote eudaimonic well-being, such as helping others, doesn’t seem to yield a psychological benefit if people feel pressured to do them, according to a study Dr. Ryan and a colleague published last year in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. ‘When people say, “In the long-run, this will get me some reward,” that person doesn’t get as much benefit,’ he says…

“Being happy doesn’t mean feeling elated all the time. Deep stress is bad, but the ‘I don’t have enough time’ stress that many people feel while balancing work, family and other demands may not be so bad, Dr. Diener says. To improve feelings of happiness and eudaimonia, focus on relationships and work that you love, Dr. Diener says, adding, ‘Quit sitting around worrying about yourself and get focused on your goals.’”

My Comment: Since we are in the power of one force of nature, then to the extent of similarity to it, we fall under its good influence, which is manifested at all the levels of the body and psyche, as well as the environment.

Nutrition: Natural Diet

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What should our approach to consumption be in order to maintain the well-being of our bodies?

Answer: I suffer from a light form of diabetes. I like sweets, sugar, and it’s the cause of my diabetes. In nature there is no sugar, only sweets like fruit and honey. If I didn’t abuse sugar, I wouldn’t have gotten sick.

There are a lot of foods that we produce only for the purpose of filling someone’s bank account, and as a consequence, for filling the hospitals with patients. Humanity must review all of its actions and gradually exclude from consumption all things that contain poison. First we have provide the necessary replacements and then stop the production of harmful things.

Just as we battle smoking, we have to battle everything else that’s harmful to our health. Nature contains a selection of ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, water, and so on. These are the things we should limit ourselves to. If it doesn’t exist in nature, then undoubtedly it’s harmful to your health. We should find the correct use for whatever does exist in nature.

Comment: Today, such a diet will end up being much more expensive then a regular diet.

Answer: I’m not saying that we need to return to being vegetarian, all natural, to pure biology with no genetics. We have no choice in this matter because we won’t be able to sustain all of humanity. However, we need to conduct more research and create the necessary technologies. For example, I have a friend who grows fruits and vegetables in the Arava desert without any chemical pesticides; instead he uses special bacteria that eats pests.

There are different ways to go about it, but most importantly everyone has to be provided with food. Then gradually we’ll move into being ecologically friendly.

The integral education has to cover all aspects of our lives in order to lead us toward correction and development. By doing so we will ensure health as well as a balanced approach toward all types of human activities. This revolution in our consciousness and interrelations will eventually effect technology, economy, agriculture, and all other aspects of our lives.

A Disease Is Correction

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: In psychology, a crisis is described as a painful phenomenon, but if a person overcomes it and does not give in, he transitions to a new level, where a large quantity of energy is released and a person begins to live a new life.

Answer: Even more so, any disease is also an act of healing. Suppose some malfunction occurred. Now it is being corrected, compensated in some way. And the timeframe when it is being compensated and corrected, we consider it to be a disease. In reality, however, this is already the correction.

We purposely have vaccinations; we inject a micro-disease into the organism in order to stimulate its positive reaction, to prevent it from threatening external influences.

If we collected all these critical, painful symptoms together, we would discover that we need to relate to them as to the birth of a new state, as to health improvement, to correction, to our adjustment, and to our rise onto the next level.
