The Formula for Reducing Suffering, Part 3

232.01Question: What is the difference between suffering along the natural path of development and suffering when time is accelerated? If the only difference is time, does that mean I would have to suffer a hundred times more?

Answer: There are terrible tragedies that shock the entire world. The whole world feels some blows because everyone tries this situation on themselves, knowing that it could happen anywhere.

It is possible to transfer these sufferings to the spiritual level and avoid the tragedies. To what extent did these sufferings advance humanity toward goodness, toward understanding the need to work on unity? Not more than a millimeter.

Instead, it would have been enough to make the very smallest spiritual effort—to agree at least a little that salvation lies in unity, in bringing everyone closer together in our global world, to engage the heart and the mind just a bit—and we would have neutralized these sufferings.

Both paths move us toward the goal. But what an enormous amount of suffering is required to advance by the natural path. Fourteen billion years were needed for the development of inanimate nature on Earth. A couple of billion years for the plant world to develop, another billion years for animals, and another hundred thousand years for a monkey to become a human being.

Look at the proportion between inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human development. At the high, human level, development proceeds very quickly.

The same principle applies to all modern technology: it becomes faster, more sensitive, and far more powerful. The greater the force of nature, the more concealed it is and the faster it acts. This is precisely the difference between the natural path and the acceleration of time.

Many sufferings could have been avoided, and time could have been accelerated.

Question: Does this mean that tragedies and terrorist attacks will happen more and more often?

Answer: Terrorist attacks can be avoided if we use the method of unity that Kabbalah offers. As long as we do not do this, attacks will occur more frequently because the world is constantly advancing, and our egoism is steadily growing.

The world does not remain in the same state; by learning through blows, it is moving forward. It has its own dynamic of development. Egoism keeps intensifying. That is why, twenty years ago, one major blow per year was enough to teach us something, whereas today we already need twenty blows a year.

Our egoism has grown. It is like a child who has become more egoistic, ruthless, and stubborn, and therefore must be punished more than one who is merely a little lazy. That is why today the world receives far more blows than it did ten years ago. And if we do not begin to advance by the path of light, this will continue: blow after blow, more and more.

I only hope that it will not come to natural disasters. For now, it is limited to global warming and typhoons, but if we do not engage in our correction, it could reach real natural cataclysms.
