Question: Is the modern world opening up to the science of Kabbalah?

Answer: Yes, but on the condition that we will unite and form a place inside of us for the quality of bestowal, for the Light, so through us it will influence the whole world. We have to become a transmission link, an “adapter” that conducts the Light to the other nations.

If we do this, there won’t be any problems left and the wave of the worldwide awakening will raise us into the spiritual world. But this will happen only if we unite for the sake of transmitting this unity to all of humanity and giving pleasure to the Creator. That way, He, us, and the whole world together will be welded into a single system.

My Comment: Kabbalah says that society is like a vessel (spiritual Kli), consisting of 10 parts (Sefirot). Thus, the tenth part of society becomes its unit, and less than 10 percent is not considered a part of it.

If this part acquires a single desire, it becomes the main part of the structure (Malchut), which absorbs in itself all the properties of the other parts (the first 9 Sefirot), not connected between themselves, attracting and using them for its fulfillment.

In our world love and hatred are two different, contradictory feelings. We cannot unite these two opposites and do not understand that we love one because we hate the other.

But in the spiritual world, they are one. Two opposites unite and it turns out that I love and hate in the same place, meaning reception and bestowal, my separation from the neighbor and my aspiration to him, occur in one location. All of this comes from one condition, one degree, my one state, in which I feel hatred and love in the same place. I perceive these two opposites as one whole.

This is similar to electricity, which is impossible without a plus and a minus. In the spiritual world, a plus and a minus work together above one matter, above one consciousness. On one hand, there is a minus, and on the other, a plus, and I am in the middle. The spiritual world is special because in it, opposites unite!

Therefore, let us unite in mutual guarantee, above all of the differences and disagreements. It doesn’t matter what qualities every person was born with and how he thinks. The most important thing is to unite above all of that. It’s similar to how in the spiritual world, the work is done by faith above reason.

With this approach, we will reach spirituality. And then we will no longer be bothered by our differences, but will use them to reveal greater degrees of unity.

What is “faith above reason”? This is something that can only be understood through sensation, whenever it comes. And as long as it doesn’t come, we don’t even know that this kind of dichotomy exists in a person: a splitting into what is inside reason and what is above it.

We think that “above” reason means simply opposite to it. But that is not so. It is a cross section in a completely different dimension, one that we do not understand. This new dimension is called “spiritual space,” which becomes revealed to us. It’s as if one more world appears in my reality, which I did not even suppose existed before.

It’s like a cat that does not understand what a rich world man has. It thinks that it lives in the same world and has the same five senses as man, and it doesn’t need anything more! After all, man has the same thing.

The cat does not understand that man has his own world and all kinds of human calculations. A cat is incapable of understanding this.

And now imagine that this cat suddenly receives human feelings and reason, including all of the understanding that man has, which it did not even suppose existed before. To the cat, this is called “faith above reason”—above the feline reason that it had before.

But sometimes the cat falls from that level and becomes a cat once again, although one that’s stronger, wiser, and shrewder. However, it still exists in the boundaries that are fitting for a cat. And from there it will reascend again in order to become human!

These states are called spiritual ascents and descents. They are not the same as the psychological states where our mood gets worse and then better, and we consider ourselves in a “descent” when we’re down. A spiritual ascent is when you rise to true bestowal, to new desires.

Question: What is nature, and what does it mean to be in balance with it?

Answer: We exist in nature. A huge number of parameters influence us, such as temperature, pressure, various vibrations, all kinds of waves, radioactivity, and others. We must exist in balance with all these natural phenomena.

This is the physical law: A body that exists in a state of balance with its environment is in its most comfortable state. If the temperature, pressure, or other parameters rise even a little, I feel bad. If they drop a little, I also feel bad.

This is how I am created in this nature: I can exist in nature within certain boundaries, and within these boundaries, I must make myself equivalent to the surrounding nature. That is why in winter, I need to dress warmly to be in balance with nature, and in summer, it’s the opposite, and so on.

This pertains to the part we can see, but there is also a part of nature we can’t see. It consists of the laws of desires, laws of our desired development, that is, moral laws. Man must conform to these as well, to be in balance with them.

We don’t know these laws. We think that we’re so good in this world if we give donations, help the poor, don’t bother anyone, pay our taxes, help old ladies across the street, or whatever you can imagine. Is that not enough?

Not only is that not enough, it doesn’t count for anything at all because I only do what I think and understand with my egoistic mind. In order to do what I need to, I must study nature itself and to aspire to be similar to it.

This law of similarity is the only law I need to obey. Every day I change, grow, and become someone else. It follows that every day, at all times, I must correct and adjust my balance with nature.

To that end, we first must learn the demands that nature or the Creator (it doesn’t matter what we call it) presents to us, the extent to which we conform to these demands, and how to achieve balance. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks about: What the surrounding nature is, what we are, in what sense we do not correspond with nature, based on what parameters, and how can we achieve balance with them. That is what the entire wisdom amounts to.

The Book of Zohar talks about the connections between us because there is nothing else to talk about in all of reality. Reality is one. We are inside of the Light, the Creator, the Maker, and we have to reveal our true state.

To the extent that we make attempts to reveal it, we are given the sensation of internal darkness, which we can disperse, cast off, with the help of mutual efforts in the connection between us. With these mutual efforts, we help the Light to become revealed.

This is exactly what we have to do. There is nothing besides our efforts, desire, concern, request, and aspiration to the state of revelation. So what’s the problem? The problem is that desiring this revelation means desiring the state that’s opposite to us. We find ourselves between two aspirations: the natural pull toward ourselves, and the artificial aspiration outwards, outside of us.

Therefore, through different efforts, by any means possible, I have to be inspired by the environment and attain a state where the aspiration outwards will become more important to me than the natural pull toward myself.

If I am able to acquire this importance with the help of the efforts and the request for the Light, for it to become revealed and help me, that means I am able to reveal the connection between us. And to the degree I reveal this connection, I reveal the Light, the Creator. That’s because the Light becomes revealed inside of our connection, but I cannot reveal it—I lack the detector.

Baal HaSulam, “The Peace”: People divided and separated each of the general actions for itself, meaning strength, wealth, domination, beauty, famine, death, disorder, and so on. They appointed each its own supervisor, and expanded the system as they wished.

I want to attain all kinds of things in life. To accomplish that, I weigh every quality that is good for me and look for nature’s support when trying to obtain it. I ascribe a specific force to nature that will help me. For example, I lack valor, so that means I need the god of war. In order to have a lot of money, I need a god responsible for wealth. That is how I “find” auxiliary forces in nature for myself.

If I don’t succeed in something, then apparently there are bad deities in nature that should be indulged and cajoled so they would respond the same way. The egoistic desire constantly grows and brings me more and more disappointments, while in response a person develops this type of “mythological” attitude to nature, ascribing independence to its different forces and calling them deities.

Humanity has already gone through this stage to some extent by means of religions; however, it is still immersed in superstitions. People believe in all sorts of forces, signs of fortune and misfortune. How does buying a red string differ from making a sacrifice to some god by a “sacred” tree? This is the same thing, the same level.

That is where humanity is in our “progressive” epoch. People began this practice thousands of years ago and they have not changed to this day. In the same way as before, they still believe in the help of special objects that are sold to them and in the effect of monetary contributions that will apparently go directly into the account of a certain god so he would pay back with miraculous help. All of the faiths and religions are built upon these schemes.

Without man’s inner correction, which will lead him to the level of connection with the upper force of nature, everything else is essentially “idol worship,” in the terminology of the science of Kabbalah. After all, I don’t want to change myself, but some external force, so it would become more gracious toward me.

That is how we have successively gone from materialism to faiths, which ascribe a thought, will, and plan to nature. And I seem to be able to change all of this by means of certain external actions. It turns out that a simple ceremony allows me to “modify” the goal and the program of creation.

So what is this god that can be changed? What kind of “almighty” is he if his kind attitude could be bought with “cash”? That is how low humanity’s current level is.

Only if a person obtains forces and uses an entire complex of means to change himself, rising to the level of God, the Almighty, the upper force, then this method is practical, authentic, and correct. Only it is truly realistic. There are simply no other paths besides it.
