The Freedom of the Collective and the Freedom of the Individual Are Equal

The general and the particular are equal, and likewise, our world resembles the upper one: Even within the smallest atom (molecule) of water, we find a complete system of sun and planets orbiting it, exactly as in the big world.

Similarly, within man, the inner part of the world, you will find all the images of the upper worlds: Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, Assiya, as the Kabbalists have said that the Rosh is Atzilut, through the Chazeh it is Beria, from there to Tabur it is Yetzira, and below is Assiya.

The Freedom of the Collective and the Freedom of the Individual Are Equal

This seems to be completely unjust that when someone commits a crime, you are responsible for him, even if you are not acquainted with and are distant from that person!

But such is the law: The world is judged by its majority and the individual is judged by its majority. One who does good sentences the whole world to a scale of merit. And if he commits a sin, he sentences himself and the whole world to a scale of sin. This is why it is said, “one sinner destroyeth much good.”

Hence, the law of nature states that all the people in the world are responsible for one another, and each person brings merit or sin to the whole world with his deeds.

This is why the world was created filled with so many people, each with his own thoughts and opinions, …so that each and every one will adopt the thoughts and opinions of all others. Thus, when one corrects oneself in similarity to the Creator, one gets enriched …since he himself is incorporated in all the alien notions and thoughts of the entire world.

After all, if one wants to draw closer to the Creator, he must perform good deeds to justify the Creator’s actions towards him and the entire world. Hence, one is connected with the thoughts and opinions of the entire world.

The whole of the body exchanges thoughts and sensations regarding each of its organs. If the whole body thinks that a specific organ should help it, this organ will immediately know that thought and provide the contemplated participation. Also, if an organ feels that the place it is in is narrow, the rest of the body will immediately know that thought and sensation and move it to a comfortable place.

However, should an organ be cut off from the body, the body will no longer know the needs of the separated organ, and the organ will not know the thoughts of the body, to benefit each other. But if the organ connects to the body as before, the organ and the body would once again know the thoughts and needs of each other.

The benefit of each and every person within his collective is evaluated not according to his own goodness, but according to his service to the public. And vice-versa, we assess the attribute of evil of each and every individual only according to the harm one inflicts upon the public in general, and not by one’s own individual value.

This is because what is found in the collective is only what is found in the individual. And the benefit of the collective is the benefit of each and every individual….

It thus turns out that …the individual is not harmed because of his enslavement to the collective since the freedom of the collective and the freedom of the individual are one and the same, too. And as they share the good, they also share the freedom.

The Freedom of the Collective and the Freedom of the Individual Are Equal

The collective and the individual are one and the same. And there is nothing negative in the individual’s enslavement to the collective because the freedom of the collective and the freedom of the individual are one and the same. And as they share the good, they also share the freedom.

Thus, good attributes and bad attributes, good deeds and bad deeds are evaluated only according to the benefit of the public.

The above applies to those who receive no more than they deserve. But if a part of the collective does not behave accordingly, it turns out that not only do they harm the collective, but they are also harmed.

The drawback, the place that needs correction, is that each and every individual has to understand that his own benefit and the benefit of the collective are one and the same thing. In that, the world will come to its full correction.

Therefore, the possibility of making good, happy, and peaceful conducts in one state is inconceivable when it is not so in all the countries in the world, and vice versa. In our time, the countries are all linked in the satisfaction of their needs of life, as individuals were in their families in earlier times. Therefore, we can no longer seek the well-being of one country, but only the well-being of the whole world because the benefit of each and every person in the world depends on the benefit of all the people in the whole world.

All Kabbalistic texts are intended for Kabbalists in order to convey inspiration and impression among them, as well as knowledge of the connecting network between the souls in which they exist. The aim of this is to reveal the upper force, the Creator faster, and to move other souls closer to correction.

We can also use these books without even knowing or understanding what Kabbalists write to one another because each of them writes on his own level. But when we read them like little children, aspiring to find out what they write there, what they want to convey to one another, and what they want to describe to us, when we open up these books by great Kabbalists, wishing to become similar to them in unity and mutual bestowal, meaning to join them, to join the system of souls where they exist in a connection with one another, to take our place among them, to gather in the same circle, then, with the help of these manuscripts, we merit coming closer to them.

That’s because the texts written by Kabbalists contain their force, their thoughts. And if we desire to cleave to them, then by trying to unite with one another and by reading their texts together, we are asking to enter this system and to join the state they are in.

Therefore, while reading The Zohar, we should try not to forget that with the help of this text, we want to become corrected and included in the same system that already contains the souls, and we are the only ones still missing there in our unity. We come there once we connect with one another and desire to enter the same system where all the great Kabbalists already reside. In essence, this state already exists there and we are only searching for it. After all, The Zohar talks about our future state, which we reach and join.

So let’s imagine ourselves in the common system of souls, among these great Kabbalsits—and let’s ask for it!
