Raise a Friend’s Spirit

165Question: If a friend does not feel any lack in spirituality, then it seems there is nothing we can do to help him. However, Rabash gives advice in his articles that one can always raise his friend’s mood and spiritual state. Do you have any recommendations on how to raise a friend’s spirit?

Answer: For this, you need to show an example and draw him to a more optimistic state. For example, I try to raise the spirit of my students at every lesson.

Question: How did you do this when you studied with Rabash?

Answer: We talked about the good forces in the world and about how much the Creator is waiting and eager to bring us to unity, bestowal, and love.

Question: Can a student raise the spirit of his teacher?

Answer: Yes, because the teacher loves him, the student can raise his teacher’s spirit by his actions when he shows a good progress within the properties of bestowal and love.

Question: Let’s say that when you pass by me you see that I am reading Talmud Eser Sefirot. Will it influence your mood in any way?

Answer: Even if I see that you are reading a book on Kabbalah will raise my mood.

Question: Or, for example, if you learn that I come an hour in advance before the lesson and prepare for it?

Answer: This would be a special attitude to the lesson that will make me want to help you, approve of you.

Can Gifts become an Obstacle on the Spiritual Path?

600.02Question: Generally when people have some connection, as soon as monetary relations enter it something beyond our control happens; we begin to change and make various calculations.

Why does everyone revolve around money?

Answer: Money tells how much I buy (from) within you and you buy (from) within me. When I give you money, I buy a part of you. This is the equivalent of my investment in you, of my efforts.

Not only money but even gifts are the same way. I have big problems with this. If someone let’s say from South America brings me a special Tequila, I put it on the table for everyone. But what if it is a personal gift? Then it is a problem: should I take it or not? A person feels that he gave you something. It means you should give him something back.

However, is it good if he thinks this way? Then he will calm down and will not put efforts to attain the upper world, but rather, he will be waiting for a reciprocal gift from you. This will relax him. It is impossible to attain spirituality without your own efforts. It turns out that if I accept his gift, I can trip him into deceiving himself. Therefore, one should not do this.

It is allowed only in the measure I feel that by giving a gift to me, he understands that he is the one who is receiving a gift because I accept it from him. Only in this case!

Turn External Wars into Internal Ones

538Question: Can we say that the external wars that are taking place in the world now are a consequence of the fact that we are not fighting enough internally with the so-called nations of the world?

Answer: Yes, that is right. Since we are not united internally, various problems arise in the world, and therefore, the whole world screams that Israel is to blame for everything.

Question: Is it really only prayer that can transfer these external wars into internal ones?

Answer: I think so, because we have already fought enough, and it did not help. Nothing in the world will help in any war.

We must come to the decision that help can come only if our hearts are united.

In Agreement with the Teacher

961.2One should act according to one’s teacher (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 187, “Choosing Labor”).

Question: I have a feeling that I am adopting your clear spiritual language and thinking in your words, speaking with them, responding with them, and what does not correspond to your words, the words of Rabash and Baal HaSulam, is not accepted. While beginning to feel my own language, doubts constantly take over, doubts that I am thinking incorrectly and speaking incorrectly.

How can I use experience correctly in order to act in harmony with you and with the Creator?

Answer: You don’t need to use your experience, get everything only from me.

You should try to act only with your mind and with what you read and hear from the sources of Baal HaSulam and Rabash. Then you will definitely advance and will not make mistakes.

On What Should One Focus in Spiritual Work?

938.04Question: What should we focus on more in spiritual work: on the greatness of the teacher who constantly guides us or on the greatness of the ten?

Answer: The teacher exists as if from the side. You incorporate in the ten, and together with the ten you strive to the Creator.

The teacher teaches you, supports you, guides you, and pushes you, but he is still like an outsider. Of course, you get the direction, the strength, the examples, the language, everything from me.

Nevertheless, the main thing is to strive through friends only to the Creator, to be in alliance with them and fly to the goal.

Different Degrees of Attainment

627.2Question: In his articles, Rabash refers to Rambam, then to his father and teacher, Baal HaSulam. Why doesn’t he speak for himself? It’s as if he relies on someone else. Has he not attained these degrees?

Answer: He cites the arguments and reasons of the great Kabbalists, on whom he can rely, and so can we.

Comment: But he went through these states anyway.

My Response: It is in your eyes that he has gone through everything, but not in his. For him, in any case, there is a difference between, say, Rambam and himself. These are different degrees of attainment.

Question: So should we study what the Rambam tells us?

Answer: In principle, what we read from Rabash’s writings is enough for us.

Finish the Work of Previous Generations

962.4Question: To what extent does how deeply we can understand the teacher and accept his methodology depend on us?

Answer: You need to accept that the implementation of the methodology you are studying depends on you and only on you.

Therefore, as long as you get closer to each other and unite more strongly with each other, you will be able to rise above the conditions that are set for you in order to achieve the goal of creation.

We are not that far from it. We just need to put our hearts and minds in order. We do not have much work left after what the previous great generations have already done.

In order to organize the heart and mind, we must overcome the little natural rejection that still remains in us and ensure that our hearts connect. Then the upper light will enter into them, and from this feeling we will attain everything.

Spiritual Contact Is Beyond the Physical Limits

961.2Question: Is it possible to reach the spiritual sensation of one another remotely, without physical contact?

Answer: We are very little, very limited, and very crude. Therefore, we still need physical contact for now. However, if my students can truly come out beyond the egoistic limitation, it will not matter where we will be.

Then if I die, I will still be together with them. Just like Ari told his disciples before he died: “If you reach the upper world, I will be teaching you. Thus, make an effort.”

He wrote that of all his disciples, only Chaim Vital could continue the study of Kabbalah. The rest of them should not even study because they did not understand him and did not come beyond the sensations of this world. Therefore, Chaim Vital was his only disciple who described and passed his method to us.

Thus, the most important thing is to come out beyond the frame of our world. After that, one can talk about any other methods of perception.

Dialogue with the Creator through Teachers and Friends

238.01Comment: When I want to ask a question, I immediately get an answer to it through my friends and through you. I experience such joy within. I want to thank you and the friends for the questions, and the Creator for this dialogue with Him.

My Response: Well done! Basically, everyone who asks questions should dig into themselves and find answers.

The fact is that I give an answer to all the questions that arise in my students. Not on those that we discuss on the Internet, but on those that are already spinning in our common Kli.

Be Silent in order for the Heart to Speak

959Question: You keep saying that a conversation can be in silence, through the hearts. Can you explain what it is to “speak through your heart”?

Answer: It is through feelings. When you want to convey your feelings to a person and it is very difficult to find suitable words for that, then the best thing is to be silent.

This is not uncomfortable for each one. You just keep silent. Thus, gradually, you begin to understand each other without words. This is called a conversation of hearts.

Question: You said that you were often silent with your teacher. Did you not have a feeling that you had to say something?

Answer: No, absolutely none. You just sit and think next to him, and so does he.

Question: Did he not prompt you to say anything? Was there no such thing?

Answer: No, there is no need. There was no need to do anything. These are such feelings, such moments, when everything is clear. An internal contact takes place, the flow of feelings from one to the other and back, without words.
