A Teacher Is Just Below God

504Question: Who is today’s teacher?

Answer: A person who teaches our children to read and write.

Question: Is this what should be expected of a teacher to teach today?

Answer: I don’t see any teacher teaching anything else.

Question: What would you like a teacher to teach?

Answer: It should be a different question. If I want a teacher to teach something else, society has to be different and parents have to be different. They should know what children lack and need to learn in life, and so, parents should also educate them. A teacher is a public representative who should educate the public, the new generation, correctly.

Question: What should a teacher’s salary be?

Answer: It should be the highest possible. No other profession is more important than teaching.

Question: And compared to a doctor?

Answer: A doctor is less. A doctor cares for the body while a teacher helps students develop their soul.

Question: How should parents relate to teachers?

Answer: With respect. A teacher is just below God because he teaches us how to relate to God. A teacher is a guide, he is the one who opens and teaches about the correct attitude to society, to life and death, to everything. A teacher is actually the representative of the upper force here in this world.

How Will The State Of Israel Be Accepted In The World?

962.6Question: What should Israel do to be accepted in the world?

Answer: It should be a spiritual state. We need to educate the nation to be a spiritual nation, to follow the rule of “love thy friend as thyself.”

Question: Who wants to do this in the first place?

Answer: The question is how much pressure will be put on us until we want to.

Question: Is there another solution?

Answer: To explain to the whole world that we need to build a special state here that will be a model for all of humanity, the moment we insist on that, explain it, and build ourselves in correct relationship between us as “They helped Every One His Friend,” we will be accepted in everyone’s eyes and will be able to build one nation and one state.

Disabilities

962.3Question: What will make a disabled person feel equal?

Answer: We are not equal to begin with. None of us is equal to anyone else. It is only in the connection between us that we can reach a state in which we complement each other until we reach a state in which we assemble by ourselves a system of one man.

Question: If we gave an example of the right connection in Israel and integrate disabled people in the community, in society, at work, and everywhere, and give the feeling of equality above all the differences, would that be a kind of light unto the nations of the world?

Answer: Yes, if we did that disabled people would feel that they are on a special mission, an upper mission, that they ascend above their disability, and thus would be able to see real life. I believe that this is what they lack, that we should complete them with a soul through which they can reach a perfect world and not feel that they are missing anything.

The Meaning of Ubuntu“In certain regions of South Africa, when someone does something wrong, he/she is taken to the center of the village and for two days he/she is surrounded by his tribe, while they speak of all the good he/she has done. They believe that each person is good yet sometimes we make mistakes, which is really a cry for help. They unite in this ritual to encourage the person to reconnect with his true nature. The belief is that unity and affirmation have more power to change behavior than does shame and punishment. This is known as Ubuntu – humanity towards others.”

Question: How do you like this method of education?

Answer: This is a very powerful method. Imagine sitting for two days and listening to good things about yourself, knowing that they all know about what you did. It would be better if they beat you!

A man eats himself: “How could I do this?! This was their opinion of me! And what is their opinion of me now knowing what I have done?!” This is a double punishment.

Question: And why does humanity not adopt this? A practical primitive tribe, close to nature

Answer: The primitive tribes were much higher than we are and they remain so.

They understand how a person can be encouraged and put in a good place, how to make him a normal member of society, and put him back in the right state. This is the only way, education by social influence.

Question: Why not adopt it? Give it a try.

Answer: We do not have such societies. Our society is purely egoistic; it is aimed only at censure, at suppression, even to the point of murder. Therefore, we cannot have such a thing.

Question: And how will the society of the future cope with this?

Answer: The society of the future is after correction! Of course, it will already have a different effect on people. But only through love, through the right communication, the right influence. To take a person inside yourself, to warm him inside, so that he feels the good influence of society.

Question: Are you talking about a criminal who has committed a crime?

Answer: Yes. And then he will feel what he can lose, and understand how others think well of him and want to place him among themselves, bail him out, and so on.

Question: But I don’t think well of him, do I? I hate him, is he a criminal?

Answer: No, then it will not work.

Comment: We are talking about a serious step for humanity. We should arrange expeditions there, to this society.

My Response: We won’t understand! Today’s society is not able to correctly perceive such an attitude of people to one another.

Question: What, then, is the future of our judicial system?

Answer: Our judicial system can take the only right step; it is to bury itself. I say this absolutely clearly, calmly, and steadily. This is not a judicial system. There is nothing worse in our society than judges and everything they have done.

Question: So they have ruined their own destinies, and the destinies of other people?

Answer: Absolutely everything!

Question: How can humanity get out of this?

Answer: Only by the correction that we are talking about. Put judges through the training and correction system, so that they do not think that if they have some book in their hands that was written by all sorts of clever people, then this book is infallible, and if they adhere to it, they can judge everyone.

Question: By what law should the corrected judges work?

Answer: The Torah is at the heart of the trial, the charter, and the legal provisions. And so we need to take it in its true form, try to understand it and start following it. Otherwise, nothing will work.

Question: When you say “Torah,” everyone pictures the book of Torah. What do you mean when you say the Torah is the basis?

Answer: Love your neighbor as yourself. This is the main law. And everything else comes from that.

Question: So this principle should be at the forefront of all of law for everyone?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Is it possible?

Answer: We will have to do it anyway. Only when? This is already a problem.

Question: And when, what do you think?

Answer: When we can understand what judges should be like. And we will not agree with the view that they represent today.

To A New Level Of Interaction

929The wisdom of Kabbalah says that we must create such a society, such a connection between us that would be similar to the spiritual connection between souls. Then we will discover that we exist in a completely different dimension.

We will turn our attention to creating a more truthful connection between us. We are not talking about physical connection; rather, we will think how we can connect our inner desires, aspirations, and yearnings with other people, regardless of distances, language barriers, and any misunderstanding between us.

We must act in such a way that the contact between all people in the world will become absolutely open so that they would not feel any semantic, linguistic, or psychological barriers and could overcome any obstacles in communication with each other.

If we strive to create such a system of interconnection, we will really reach the next level of interaction, and this will make our relations completely different.

“The Rockets Expose The Myth Of Coexistence” (Linkedin)

My new article on Linkedin “The Rockets Expose the Myth of Coexistence

The good thing about crises is that they expose the truth. After the Israeli War of Independence, Arabs remained in many places in Israel and became Israeli citizens. Over the years, it seemed as though we’ve learned to live together in peaceful coexistence. It was clear that there is no love between the two populations, and that the Israeli Arabs sympathized with the Palestinians in the West Bank, but they still chose to remain in Israel and lead a full civic life here, work alongside Israelis, trade with Israelis, and benefit from the amenities of a prosperous economy. For many years, it seemed as though the hatred that flared during the War of Independence had subsided thanks to the frequent contact with Israeli Jews. It was a myth. The rockets from Gaza and the riots in Jerusalem exposed the truth: Israeli Arabs identify themselves as Palestinians, and they only waited for a time when the Jewish society in Israel was divided and weak enough for them to expose that they, too, want the destruction of the State of Israel and the establishment of a Palestinian state from the Jordan river to the Mediterranean sea. For some reason, we enjoy lying to ourselves. We cannot afford this luxury; we should tell ourselves the truth: Nothing has changed since the establishment of the State of Israel. The Arabs, who supported the Nazis in World War II, are just as keen to destroy us now as they have always been.

“The Israeli nation had been constructed as a sort of gateway by which sparks of purity would flow onto the entire human race throughout the world,” to use the words of kabbalist Baal HaSulam. This purity, this unity above the ego, is the meaning of being “a light unto nations.”

We have to understand what Israel stands for in the world. The nation of Israel was “officiated” when descendants of strangers who were often hateful toward each other chose to unite above their enmity. By doing so, under the leadership of Abraham and his lineage, and finally under Moses, they set a precedent showing how people can overcome their egos and unite. “The Israeli nation had been constructed as a sort of gateway by which sparks of purity would flow onto the entire human race throughout the world,” to use the words of kabbalist Baal HaSulam. This purity, this unity above the ego, is the meaning of being “a light unto nations.”

But since human nature is selfish to the core, or as the Torah puts it, “The inclination of a man’s heart is evil from his youth” (Gen. 8:21), Israel’s method of achieving peace among sworn enemies has put it on a collision course with the rest of humanity. In truth, no division is greater or deeper than the division between Israel and the rest of the world, and no hatred is more intense. The chasm between Israel and the nations is a projection of the chasm between the nature of giving and unity and the nature of receiving and selfishness. There is no compromise; in the end, only one will remain.

When Israel are united, they are powerful enough to deter any enemy. In fact, a united people of Israel has no enemies since the light of unity it emits attracts the nations toward it to learn how they, too, can unite. The book Sifrey Devarim (Item 354) writes that in antiquity, in times when Israel were united, people from the nations of the world would “go up to Jerusalem and see Israel … and say, ‘It is becoming to cling only to this nation.’”

Alas, today we are anything but united. And when we are disunited, we are powerless, and the world feels our weakness and wishes to seize the moment and destroy us. When we are disconnected from our unity, our anchor of strength, the ego takes over the world and wishes to destroy its only enemy: the people of Israel. “Israel will be a holy congregation and one association, as one man with one heart. Then, when unity restores Israel as before, Satan will have no place in which to place error and external forces,” writes the book Shem MiShmuel. “When they are as one man with one heart,” it continues, “they are as a fortified wall against the forces of evil.” However, “If there is division among them,” writes the book Masechet Derech Eretz Zutah, “it is said about them (Hosea 10:2), ‘Their heart is divided; now they will bear their guilt.’”

This is what is happening today. We are suffering the consequences of the baseless hatred among us, and the whip is our neighbors. Our own disunity is the instigator of their violence, and the only fire extinguisher we have is our solidarity, our care for one another. If we can rise above the chasms in the Israeli society, we will prosper more than any other nation. If we do not, we will bear our guilt.

New Life 1299 – Coping With Failure In A Connected World

New Life 1299 – Coping With Failure In A Connected World
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

In a connected world, failure is not an individual matter but stems out of the connection between an individual and society. A successful society is one in which each of its members contributes to the protection and success of every citizen. There will always be malfunctions and they will actually lead us to success if we use them to learn how to work more closely together. Anyone can be like the king of the world if he has the right support from his environment.

The Meaning Of Life Of A Useless Class

527.01Question: It would be logical to imagine that virtual communities could help people communicate and in real life, but it turns out to be the opposite. Why?

Answer: Because people are ruled by their egoism. You can do nothing about it. Until we correct it, any methods and forms of communication will harm us.

Question: Some futurists believe that computer games will turn out to provide meaning in life for a useless social class. This is what they call people who have lost their jobs. There may be billions of such people. They will be provided with a basic income and games so that they will not riot. Do you see such a scenario being possible?

Answer: Unfortunately, I do. However, this is not the final form of human development but only an intermediary one. Indeed, this could happen.

Question: Today, a person is in daily contact with so many people that he has never met in his entire life. What opportunity does this give to us? How can one properly use this phenomenon for personal growth?

Answer: I think that today, this phenomenon is hampering our personal growth, and an ordinary person does not have any opportunity to break away from it and grow.

Equality Is A Basic Principle Of Nature

552.03Striving for equality is a characteristic of all of nature: the inanimate, vegetative, animate, and people. All of them strive to achieve equality. This is how a common force acts to lead us to absolute unity.

We exist within this field, but we need to feel nature, the whole desire to receive pleasure, and the network of our connections together with the Creator, who dresses in it and is revealed there.

Therefore, equality cannot be established from above. Equality is already the result of correction when we have all the data obtained from the feeling of a common connection and the forces acting between us. And this will happen soon.

Baal HaSulam describes the laws of nature in a corrected society when the forces of nature dress in the matter of this world. Light comes from above and dresses in all the desires, even the most material ones. While this may seem unrealistic, a Kabbalist clearly sees this future state and is not afraid to tell us about it.

Baal HaSulam writes that one cannot perform any material actions until we are able to perform them in an internal, spiritual, soul form, within the desire. If you can fulfill this in your desire, then you can act with your hands but not vice versa. Otherwise, we will begin to build Communism on the Soviet model or kibbutzim.

First, it is necessary to educate a person in love for one’s neighbor as for oneself. According to the steps that we reach in relations between people, it is possible to build a society that supports this. But the whole construction goes from the inside out.

Conditional Equality

629.1Question: Is equality one of the main principles of communication?

Answer: In general, yes. But this is conditional equality because there is no one person who is equal to another. Otherwise, we would have become one.

The principle of correct communication is that everyone can express themselves as fully as possible in a collective action.

Question: Throughout history, the meaning of social equality has constantly changed. In antiquity, equality was observed within the estates, while there was no equality between the estates.

In medieval Christian philosophy, it was believed that everyone is equal before God, although everyone understood what God is in their own way.

In the Age of Enlightenment, the concept of social equality was based on personal qualities, on individualism: everyone should have equal rights and equality before the law. But they did not take into account that all people are different by nature, and so it still turned out to be inequality.

Socialist teachings led people to equalization.

As a result of the constant desire for equality, society has come to the triumph of liberalism and permissiveness. How do you see the next stage of development?

Answer: Equality means that everyone should strive to make society integral to the best of their abilities. In this integrality, we will become conditionally equal.

Everyone will receive and give as much as they can, can, need, and should. We cannot weigh each person and say how much they owe and how much they do not. It is the right relationship between people that should lead them not to statistical, but conditional equality.

Question: If everyone got everything they wanted and everyone was satisfied with their needs, would it be possible to say that we are equal in this?

Answer: No. Even if you imagine such a fantastic future, it will not give anything.

It is not enough for our nature to receive only. We must also give because we are social elements that exist at the expense of each other. So here you need to enter another parameter: how much I get and how much I give. One cannot exist without the other.
