Question: Why did Baal HaSulam start writing music?
Answer: Baal HaSulam’s group consisted of less than ten people, and everyone came from different places. Each had their own melodies that they played at mealtimes or during prayers, especially on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).
So Baal HaSulam composed his own melodies, and taught the students not to sing foreign prayers to the words from the prayer book. That is how the melodies to the texts of Ari and “Bnei Eihal” came out, “Kel Mistater,” etc.
Question: Can these melodies and their text somehow affect a person listening to them?
Answer: They do possess certain spiritual forces. A melody has a great power, but it can only be attained to the degree that a person is dwelling in it.

Question: Why are there suddenly accusations against the people of Israel?
Answer: The Creator is perfect. And you, look at yourself. Look what you are doing under the influence of your egoism: to what extent you cannot correct it, how much it seems to you that everything that the Creator does is bad. Absolute disbelief and evil comes from you. You fall into your egoism and cannot justify the Creator, you cannot exalt Him, the quality of bestowal and love.
However, on the other hand, who created all this in a person? The same Creator! So why does He begin to demand everything from a person? This is in order for a person to realize that on one hand this is done by the Creator and now he must correct all of it. After all, only through the correction of evil will he reach the level of the Creator and understand why He did this.
Comment: But on the other hand, it is written that they are His sons and He is their Father and Master.
Answer: Aren’t we doing the same with our children when we want them to achieve something good? Don’t we place all kinds of tasks before them, give them exercises, and so on? A correct education places serious demands on children.

Question: Is depression the lack of love of others for me, or conversely, the lack of my love for others?
Answer: No. Depression is a very broad concept. It can have medical reasons, such as the lack of chemical elements in the body. It can be anything.
In principle, depression occurs because a person is a great egoist. He is not satisfied with what he has. It is just that his egoism is not filled.
However, this is a common depression. If we are talking about depression from medical reasons, then everything happens at different levels. Nevertheless, the basis for all diseases at any level is the same: our egoistic desire does not receive a correct fulfillment. It is just like cancer.
In cancer, a cell, instead of being in correct connection with other cells, suddenly begins to devour them and eventually dies itself. That is, any disease is a special egoistic state of our cells.

Question: Was making a living in the material world created by the Creator in order to correct the human ego, his evil inclination?
Answer: Of course, material work was created by the Creator and advanced in the evolutionary process of humankind so as to bring us closer to our correction.
However, our correction does not manifest by doing corporeal work. The truth is that in the process of evolution we have gone through various social, political, and governmental formations in order to come to the state that the world is experiencing now for the first time in thousands of years of egoistic development.
But, nowadays, this development is nearing its end. Money will gradually lose its power. Jobs will pay nothing and will disappear on their own. Accordingly, the division of humankind based upon wealth and poverty or strength and weakness will become blurred and lose its boundaries and hierarchies.
All that egoism has created in human society, breaking it down into all kinds of ranks, will blur and lose importance. Therefore, the concept of work, its value, and its necessity, which were built upon egoism, will begin to disappear.
Question: But will the poor and the rich remain?
Answer: No. In the current process of stratification that society is going through, maybe, just a few thousand people will be rich and all the rest will be poor. This means that a small group of people will remain at the top and the rest of the billions of people will be at the bottom. But humanity cannot live like this.
It is not socialism, communism, antagonisms, and everything else that matters. The truth is that nature itself will drive us toward unification. Therefore, humankind has to go through these states of stratification in order to understand that there is no place for them anymore.
According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, nature will drive us toward the understanding that the next formation will be based on the unification of all people on equal terms because neither money nor ego nor salary can be the standard of success.
The concept of success is taking on a completely different framework. Success no longer flows based on a hierarchical structure from the bottom up, but from the outside to the inside instead. The one who will work more on behalf of unification will begin to extract more energy, a special feeling, harmony, and a resemblance to the upper nature.
These people will become truly great, powerful, and rich. But this will happen only if humanity recognizes that true wealth is the connection between us.
The focus of a person’s attention and work will become unification. This will be the real work.
Question: But will the assessment of whether a person is happy or not remain?
Answer: Definitely! Moreover, the higher and lower ranks will remain. But people will be evaluated according to a new criterion: how much they contribute to unification.
Question: Will they be happier then?
Answer: Not only will they be happier, they will also be more respected and more revered. And there will be a huge competition in this regard.
Question: What about the movie industry and theatre? Will they remain?
Answer: Of course. Everything that has spiritual potential will remain including art, which will express the inner aspirations of a person, more and more. And everything else will exist only to dress and feed our physical bodies and to give ourselves shelter.

Question: The meaning of life is sought after by those who have lost interest in the pleasures that life offers. Do you gather around yourself those who are disappointed in what is offered to man as a gift from the Creator?
Answer: Such disenchanted people make up 70% of all of humanity today. People use drugs, sedatives, and sleeping pills; even pets are depressed, not to mention small children. Not only do we constantly feel depressed, but we have forgotten how to admire, rejoice, and accept everything with a smile.
Question: Do you want to lead the disappointed even farther away from earthly pleasures? Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to cure them from their lack of interest?
Answer: What could they be interested in? Our egoism is burned out. It does not exist anymore. If there had been interest in food, sex, family, knowledge, honors, fame, and wealth before, it is all slowly fading away today. Talk to the new generation under 30 and you will better understand this.
They just continue to live because it is necessary to exist, but they are generally neither interested in higher realms nor anything else. Even sex does not really excite them. They need very little from life in general.
We see that they are not planning to marry and they do not want to leave their parents. Buying a house is not worth it; it is not worth chasing after anything. I have my own corner and that is enough. This is a result of what they feel, that our world has nothing to offer them.
Question: But how can earthly egoism burn out if it is said, “One who has filled one measure wants two?”
Answer: The concept of “has filled one measure, wants two” refers to spiritual egoism; earthly egoism gradually fades. We observe this in all of life’s occasions. A person does not attain fulfillment. He or she is ready to experience anything, if only to feel fulfillment, even in battle or in death—no matter what—if only it could be genuinely great.
We are no longer fulfilled with the material pleasures of life; we are looking for something else.
Remark: But you always say that our whole history is the constant growth of egoism…
Response: Yes, until now, egoism was developing but now it has started to cave in and burn out. We are at a very serious point in history. If, in the past, a person ran after pleasures, one desire would end and he would immediately rush to the next. Now, the current generation does not want anything—give them a smartphone and that is enough.
According to statistics, this is happening all over the whole world.
