The Years Do Not Go By In Vain

laitman_219_03Question: Compared to my group, I feel that I lag behind in understanding the necessity for connection between friends. Because of this, I am considering leaving the studies.

Answer: Each one reaches his moment of connection with the group. For some individuals, this takes a few years, for others 20 or even 30 years, as Baal HaSulam writes.

But the moment comes for everyone when he begins to feel that the means for spiritual development comes from connection in a group. And he begins to grow in it. The years that go by do not pass in vain, and specifically those who patiently walk in the dark, as Baal HaSulam writes, gradually rise to great spiritual heights.

The Secret Of Kabbalah Conventions

laitman_942Question: What is the secret of Kabbalah conventions?

Answer: It is a special secret that can be told only to those who participate in the conventions. Others will not understand.

The point is that when people are interconnected internally, they form one big common desire.

If the connection takes place according to the laws of the spiritual world, when people nullify their egoism, individualism, their natural impulses for separation, and try to overcome them, then a very serious force of overall interconnection emerges between them, which they artificially create through the efforts of their will.

Then, to the extent they prevail against themselves, they show the good power of nature—the power of unity, the power of love.

The secret is that if we unite in this way, we reveal the upper positive force of nature, which does not exist in our world. It is called concealed power. And Kabbalah is called a secret science because it reveals this concealed power.

Becoming owners of two opposing forces: the negative – egoistic force and the positive – altruistic, which we extract together, trying to unite, we close both forces on ourselves and begin to reveal the upper world between us.

Question: Is it important for us to be in the same room while trying to unite, or it is not essential?

Answer: In general, this is important, because a person is like a small, limited animal, and has to rise exactly from the place where he is.

Question: What would you recommend to those who cannot come to the convention?

Answer: Those who for some reason cannot come, it is desirable to be in touch with us and participate with us in all the events in real time. But if such an opportunity does not exist, then it is possible at some other time.

The most important thing for those who cannot come to the convention is to get together with others who aren’t coming and to be with us during lessons and meals.

Instructions Of “The Last Generation”

laitman_533_01Question: When reading Baal HaSulam manuscript The Last Generation, we feel that there is a treasure in them—instructions how to build the future society. How can we understand it correctly to study and present it to other people?

Answer: The problem is that Baal HaSulam these manuscripts wrote for himself; they are not systematized enough and repeat themselves in many respects. He was making sketches from time to time, but didn’t bring them to any order.

Rabash said that Baal HaSulam considered his generation still not ready for correction, and therefore he stopped writing. After all, his newspaper was closed and it was forbidden to print his writings.

I understand your desire, but you should also understand me. It is based on Kabbalah; I can say that this is an absolutely practical science! Although it seems like mysticism where some Sefirot, Partzufim, and worlds are supposedly spinning, this is the most practical science! It completely depends on the inner state of the people studying it.

Therefore, I don’t know to what extent we can develop the topic of “The Last Generation.” Perhaps, we can do it in a very limited form since we need to reach this individually by ourselves. We’ll try to do this.

I understand your enthusiasm. Perhaps it can help us. But you need to understand that I get up every morning, which starts for me at midnight, and I begin to study. I come to the audience without knowing at what level the lesson, the discussion, or the questions will be; it doesn’t depend on me.

I can’t reveal more than how I feel the desire of the people, their needs, and their ability to at least partially absorb the material. If they can absorb at least ten percent of what I am saying among them, it means that I can already speak and I invest a hundred percent. Otherwise, I can’t.

Therefore, despite your strong desire to describe the instruction of “The Last Generation,” if the audience doesn’t have such a desire, I find it difficult to do so.

So far we haven’t reached this. But I am an optimist, I am always ready.

How Does One Study The Wisdom Of Kabbalah?

Laitman_165Question: How does one study the wisdom of Kabbalah correctly if a person doesn’t understand anything?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is not taught for you to understand everything. It will not be understood until you acquire the minimal characteristic of bestowal and begin to feel the upper world through it. In this case, you will not even need books. You will begin to discover the true reality, like a newborn who opens his eyes and begins to study and explore this world.

Therefore, we don’t study the wisdom of Kabbalah to acquire wisdom or knowledge. We read Kabbalistic books only to awaken and invite the Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light) upon ourselves, which will reveal our characteristics so that we will attain the upper world, explore and feel it.

In other words, attaining the upper world us not scientific but sensory, just as we feel and comprehend our world.

How To Read Kabbalah Books

laitman_526Question: What does it mean to read a Kabbalah book?

Answer: Reading a Kabbalah book means reading it with the thought that it will impact you.

A Kabbalah book is like medicine that can correct, change, and bring us to the state where we begin to feel what we read. Not to understand but to feel!

Answers To Your Questions, Part 172

Laitman_032_02Question: Often, you give an example of a drop of semen from which a fetus develops. Human semen is a liquid with sperm within it. Nothing can develop from the sperm. Why give an example that sounds erroneous from a scientific point of view?

Answer: That is because this is precisely the way it sounds in the translation from all the Kabbalistic sources!

Question: When I began to study The Book of Zohar, questions popped up for me regarding the following assertion: the Creator has no desire to receive because He is whole. Does it follow that the Creator does not receive pleasure from filling us with pleasure? In this case, what does “for the sake of the Creator” mean? Is it for the sake of his pleasure? After all, He has no desire to receive.

Answer: Quite true, we cannot say that the Creator receives pleasure from fulfilling the creatures. We say this because we cannot describe these actions and relationships other than in the language of our physical feelings.

Why Are People Lazy?

laitman_564Question from Facebook: Why are people so lazy, not wanting to do anything?

Answer: It is because our ego is exhausted. It doesn’t want anything anymore. All of nature is such that it tends only to rest. And only because there is another law—nature abhors a vacuum—are we forced to yearn for fulfillment.

Fulfillment leads to rest and peace, and peace to the desire to be fulfilled, and so we constantly swing back and forth, like a pendulum.

A completely different principle operates in the wisdom of Kabbalah, according to the law of the middle line: a person constantly needs to be simultaneously empty and full. The mission of Kabbalah is to teach every person to be like this, but we must learn to do this. Being lazy is something very good because you are not harming others that way.

Divorce Is The Very Last Thing

laitman_543_02Torah, Deuteronomy 22:28 – 22:29: If a man finds a virgin girl who was not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found the man who lay with her shall give fifty [shekels of] silver to the girl’s father, and she shall become his wife, because he violated her. He shall not send her away all the days of his life.

“A virgin girl who was not betrothed” is a desire with which a man can work. What happened between them obliges him to use this desire in the right sense. It did not belong to anyone, he took it, and began to use it with his intention. So, this desire fits his intention.

But, he began to work with it not by mutual consent, i.e., without preparation. After all, in order to implement the correct linking of desire with intention, he must discover a way to approach all his desires. They need to be properly processed, analyzed, attributed to certain qualities, and how to work with them to bestow established.

There are such desires that can be used correctly by preparing the screen in advance (this means “to get engaged”). And there are some that cannot be completely counteracted. And there are desires, to which you can approach exactly as above.

In any case, there is a system of correction. Was this maiden (desire) engaged or not engaged, i.e., was not yet ready to communicate with me or with others and whether this egoistic desire was already ready for use with the intention of giving or not, all this must be clarified in order to work with it. Only this is allegorically written in the Torah.

“The man who lay with her shall give fifty [shekels of] silver to the girl’s father,” i.e., he must pay, and this is a correction. Whether he pays before or after what happened, he must correct this desire so that it fits under his screen for use to bestow.

“He shall not send her away all the days of his life” means that he paid, and she is his. He is obliged to accompany this desire until a complete correction, which is why he cannot divorce.

Divorce is a very difficult procedure—when you have to make sure that you are no longer able to work with this desire. But if you have already taken this desire, then you must try to make it to the end. Divorce is the very last thing.
