It Is Impossible To Survive Alone

laitman_543_01In the News (MedPulse): “A person, by evolution itself, is not programmed to survive alone. Therefore, we tend to imitate the most, and our health and well-being are directly affected by the presence or absence of social ties. …

“Employees of the University of Texas found that sick people who support friends or relatives recover faster and spend less time in the hospital after admission.

“Experts studied data of more than 119 thousand patients who were in rehab after injury, stroke, and various operations.

“It was found that those patients who were surrounded by the attention of family and friends needed less time to recover. Apparently, the positive emotion from communication has beneficial effects on health.

“Tolerance of pain is associated with the number of friends.

“In the journal Scientific Reports, the results of scientific studies were published [showing] people with many social ties seem to tolerate pain, more so than less ‘socialized’ individuals.”

My Comment: The science of Kabbalah spoke many years ago about the influence of the environment, mutual connection, and unity as the foundation of nature. Now in the 21st century scientists are finally coming to this. It is difficult for scientists to feel Kabbalah as a science. Only a person with a “point in the heart” is capable of that, someone with a special longing, which depends upon the structure of his soul.

I remember giving a lecture at the University of Miami to 2,000 students, after which I talked with 70 or 80 professors. I explained the main laws of Kabbalah to them. They nodded in agreement and said: “Yes, that is very interesting, so it is here with us too,” and we parted as friends.

I don’t blame them at all, because a person is given a longing for something, like a longing for music. Either he has this desire or he doesn’t.

For example, I have perfect pitch, but I never had a desire to study music seriously for ten hours a day. So the fact that I have perfect pitch doesn’t mean anything.

So it is in Kabbalah. If people have a point in the heart, they will come to study because they feel that there is something interesting here. After that, many of them see the abyss of work that they must do on themselves, and leave.

Question: What does this mean? After all, they have a point in the heart.

Answer: There is a Reshimo de Hitlabshut (information about the Light) and a Reshimo de Aviut (information about the desire). A Reshimo (reminiscence), which shines to a person, pulls him forward, and what he needs to sacrifice for this need is no longer in him.

Therefore, we are waiting for people who are oppressed by the meaninglessness of life. I’m waiting for such a person.

We Will Take Everyone With Us

Unity, The Way To A Good FutureQuestion from Facebook: You say that we, the people of Israel, must attain the Creator by uniting together. Is this not egoistic? Wouldn’t it be more worthwhile to pray for the nations of the world?

Answer: You are absolutely right. But for the rest of the peoples to be corrected, we must correct ourselves to the level of the Creator first. Then, to that degree, we can attract and bring the nations of the world closer to the Creator.

The way through which we have already passed is latent in our spiritual genes. So today we must return to it again to attract everyone else after us.

We will not leave anyone in this world behind; we will take everyone with us to the upper world.

Consciousness: Beyond Time And Space

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: One of the main laws of nature is the law of conservation of energy. If nothing disappears, then presumably we also do not disappear. What happens to our consciousness when we die?

Answer: In nature, nothing disappears but passes from one state to another. There is no such concept as “disappear.” Therefore, consciousness passes from one form to another, from one carrier to another—if it exists within us at all!

It can be said that consciousness doesn’t exist within a person, that it is around him, or maybe even in a completely different dimension, in another space. Our brain is kind of a modem that picks up the general consciousness to the extent that it needs to realize itself at the moment.

Question: There is a collective consciousness, and there is an individual consciousness of each person, that which I pick up from the collective consciousness. It turns out that individual consciousness continues to live on?

Answer: Yes. Nothing disappears. It only changes its structure, design, just as our body decomposes into basic elements.

Remark: I would really like to remember my own self.

Answer: Your “I” exists in the consciousness, not in the physical body. Consciousness per se is information. Informational connection exists beyond time and field. It permeates the entire universe.

Information does not disappear, it can only change its medium. And we can not say for sure in what form and where it exists. This is the way wisdom of Kabbalah views it.

Remark: I support the idea that consciousness is a global phenomenon. Therefore, the individual consciousness is like a small holographic copy that picks up certain things from the collective consciousness. In this case they are truly connected. However, physics does not yet discuss what happens after death.

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches that nothing else exists. Our bodies and the whole corporeal world are only an illusion. This world is called “an illusory world” and is considered nonexistent. Everything else exists in the consciousness.

Why Charity Isn’t Considered Bestowal

laitman_546_03Question: Why isn’t charity considered bestowal according to the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: Charity in our world is totally egoistic. A person cannot perform one good spiritual deed because we are all absolute egoists by nature.

No matter what we do, we will not bestow unto anyone in any way: not unto our children, ourselves, our relatives, or others. We cannot perform actions of bestowal since we are a desire to receive.

Only when we begin to unite according to a certain method do we get closer to creating the attribute of bestowal. But all our yearnings and closeness to each other without unity lead to nothing and are merely efforts.

When we are together, whether a group of two people or ten, and make great efforts and, at the same time, study according to Kabbalistic sources, we summon the upper Surrounding Light unto us and it corrects our egoism.

WhyCharityIsnConsideredBestowal

Question: So can we act in bestowal?

Answer: Yes, but in order to do so we have to accurately carry out all of the Kabbalists’ recommendations and instructions. We need to invoke and summon the impact of the upper world unto us, of the upper attribute, because we are absolute egoists by nature.

What Is Nature Leading Us To?

laitman_546_04Comment: The concept of “work” comprises more than half a person’s life. He begins to prepare for it from a young age: studying in school, in university, thinking about what to be. But now all of this has ended; an unexpected turning point has appeared.

My Response: Our generation is now in a very interesting state in which the work that created a person that actually determines all of his personal, family, social, and political, and even planetary life, has suddenly begun to lose its importance.

A person is no longer included in the concept of work, an idea that is contrary to Darwin’s theory. He believed that labor is what built the human from the ape.

Moreover, Karl Marx’s theory that we would achieve the victory of socialist labor where each would receive according to his needs and give according to his ability from his own freewill, doesn’t work either because today nothing is required of people.

We travel all over the world today in search of work. This has been going on for quite some time. So, the concept of work has changed. Therefore, the approach where a person would choose an occupation according to his heart’s desire, providing him with material satisfaction and social status, has completely disappeared. It is interesting that art has also disappeared. After all, literature, music, poetry, movies, and theater are also work that are gradually changing their goals and definitions in our daily lives.

The desires, intentions, and goals of humanity are changing. So everything that can be conveyed from one person to another no longer has importance to him. If someone writes something, from the start it has no interest for me.

Our ego has begun to ascend higher. It wants higher and more meaningful sensations. If you are already alive, then life will certainly be good. Emotional novels and tear-jerking soap operas, which are abundant on our television, have become less important because the desire for them is gradually disappearing.

So what will be left for a person then? Nothing! The bare meaning of life cannot be found in literature, art, music, music or anything, not even technology.

People will create robots to work for humanity. And what will be next? There will be no work, there will be nothing to do, and nobody will compel you to do anything. Inventing something artificial will only cause pollution of the atmosphere and the earth.

Question: Where is nature pushing us to? Is it to where all people will sit and begin to think about the meaning of life?

Answer: No. The meaning of life is not achieved by sitting and thinking, but by building a feeling of inner connection between us, within which we begin to feel completely different dimensions, a new world, and another new world, and so on, higher and higher.

A spiritual world is not a three-dimensional space like our world. There is no flow of time. We will go beyond the speed of light, beyond mental and personal communication between us and will rise to completely different methods of communication.

The connection between us will become completely different, it will be on an internal level which has no connection to neurons of the brain or nerve cells. We will be one single body. To our physical bodies will be added a mental, spiritual connection between us, and we will begin to exit to another world.

Harmony Of The Higher Reality

laitman_572_02Question: Can you describe the true reality that I can yearn for, imagine, and understand, unlike the reality in which I am now living?

Answer: When I began the spiritual path, I tried to do this and it seemed to me that I was more successful at it than today.

I cannot describe the higher reality. It is a field of bestowal, love, total integration, and complete adhesion. It is a field in which there is a general intelligence, collective characteristics, and collective activities that complement each other, connecting into a single whole. It is a harmony.

We feel it as a higher pleasure, which is built upon the discovery of opposites and the complete harmony between them.

Are We Guarded From Above? Part 4

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If nature controls us in everything and executes its own program, then to what goal is it leading us?

Answer: The goal of nature is to bring its every part and all parts together to a conscious awareness of the force that controls the entire system and develops creation. Everything that happens to us in life is aimed at moving us toward awareness and revelation of the upper force, the Creator.

Inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels do not have free will and are dependent on the human being, rising and falling with his attainment of this system. The human being does the work for all of creation. It’s because all parts of nature exist in one system. The vegetative and animate levels are lower and more primitive in relation to a human being, and that is why initially they are included into him.

The upper force leads a human being through states according to the process of development, eventually bringing him to the place of study, books, and teachers. Those who have matured and are ready for this type of study receive a mentor and under his leadership can continue to develop on a different level, in attainment of upper system and upper force.

In Harmony Between Two Lines

laitman_546_02Question: You said that since the basis of human nature is egoism, happiness is possible only in the middle line. Could you explain this?

Answer: The middle line is a state where our egoistic desires, called the “left line” are balanced by the altruistic desires of the “right line,” and we work in harmony between them.

In other words, our egoism constantly helps us to work in bestowal and love of others. Then it really becomes fulfilled.
