What Is Our “Self”?

laitman_535_02Question: What is a person’s “self”?

Answer: A person’s “I” is his point in the heart, meaning, the initial yearning for the higher root, for attaining the meaning of life.

The desires with which a person is born are not part of his “self” because these are beastly desires that aspire only to fulfill themselves. And the meaning of life is not in this because all the beastly desires die along with the physical body.
