My Thoughts On Twitter, 1/25/17

The opposing views in the US make it possible to achieve unity above differences. As Kabbalah explains: “Love covers all crimes.”

Liberals should be grateful to Trump. They used to fight each other constantly. Thanks to him—they are uniting.

Everyone agrees that our world needs improvement. But no one agrees that it’s a necessity to improve oneself.

On his last day of presidency, Obama transferred $221M to his Muslim brothers. But that money will evaporate as many millions before!

Eleven Years After Arosa, Part 1

Laitman_004

Comment: In January 2006, in the report at the international forum in Arosa, you warned about the beginning of the global crisis and advised how to avoid it. Today, eleven years later, we should return to this report and look at it from the position of the current state of the world.

From the paper “Crisis and Its Solution” for the Arosa Forum 2006

Evidence of the Crisis

The general global crisis of humanity is obvious—depression, drugs, the breakdown of the family, terrorism, uncontrollable social systems, the threat of the use of nuclear weapons, ecological catastrophes, and so on. For example, according to the data published by the European Council in the “Gruenbuch” (Green Book), Europeans suffer from serious depression that leads to 58,000 suicides a year, and 30% of all citizens of the EU suffer from a mental disorder.

The imminent threat to the existence of humanity is steadily growing as a result of the use of nuclear weapons. According to leading scientists, humanity does not have that much time to prevent this crisis from developing in an undesirable direction—to thermonuclear world war or global ecological catastrophe.

My Response: Eleven years ago, people didn’t want to admit that the crisis had started and they didn’t believe things were so bad. One of the American scientists I met at that time complained that discussion of the global crisis was banned by the guild of scientists.

Today, it is impossible to impose such a ban because the crisis has become apparent and has affected everyone in some way, every family and every country. The situation in Europe where the Arosa forum was held has changed dramatically. The world has advanced further in the recognition of evil. However, the danger is that humanity still doesn’t know where it is.

Advancement Is Only In A Group

laitman_528_01Question: We learn that we must advance through studying n a physical or virtual group. What can I do if I have no desire to engage with a group?

Answer: I cannot imagine how it is possible otherwise. Do you want to wait for the blows of fate until you become wiser?

I can say only one thing: no one wants to come to a group to be corrected. A person simply must decide for themselves the extent to which it is necessary. Close your eyes, bow your head, and begin to dissolve within the group.

Participate in all of the common activities and I assure you that an immense, positive, spiritual force will begin to influence you. After a short time you will feel that participation in a group specifically creates this within you. The positive force will balance the negative force, and then you will be able to exist in the feeling of the upper world.

Yearning For Connection With The Source

Laitman_137Question: If we read a Kabbalistic source and don’t understand anything, will the Light act and influence us anyway? In a case like this, do we advance?

Answer: Yes, you advance anyway, but it is desirable to read parts that are somewhat understandable so that you will have a connection with the source.

Question: Maybe, it is better to make an effort to understand something?

Answer: It is always necessary to make an effort.

Egoism In The Service Of The World

laitman_939_01Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: And it is natural that each and every individual feels himself in the world of the Creator, as a sole ruler, that all the others were created only to ease and improve his life, without him feeling any obligation whatsoever to give anything in return.

And in simple words we shall say, that the nature of each and every person is to exploit the lives of all other people in the world for his own benefit. And all that he gives to another is only out of necessity; and even then there is exploitation of others in it, but it is done cunningly, so that his friend will not notice it and concede willingly.

It is possible that a person doesn’t even feel that he uses another when giving, but it can’t be that we give something selflessly. In any case, it will be with the intention to receive.

The reason for it is that the nature of every branch is close to its root. And because man’s soul extends from the Creator, who is One and Unique, and everything is His, hence, so man, who extends from Him, feels that all the people in the world should be under his own governance and for his own private use. And this is an unbreakable law. …

This law can be called “the law of singularity in man’s heart.” No person escapes it, and each and every one takes his share in that law: the great according to his size, and the small according to his size.

Thus, the above law of singularity in the nature of every person is neither condemned nor praised, as it is a natural reality and has a right to exist like all parts of reality. And there is no hope to eradicate it from the world or even blur its form a little, just as there is no hope to eradicate the entire human species from the face of the earth. Therefore, we will not be lying at all if we said about this law that it is the absolute truth.

It is clear that this is our nature. The important thing is not to hide this law—this “absolute truth” that only our egoism operates in the entire reality—but to use it correctly. After all, egoism is the only material of creation, and if we don’t learn to use it correctly, we will suffer all of our lives.

A person’s entire life, from birth to death, is a fight. How is it possible to enjoy it and reach an eternal and perfect life? For this, we need not destroy our egoism, but to use it properly.

There is no force in the world that can correct our egoism. Therefore, people think that there is no solution. All of the governments, philosophies, nations of the world, and the cleverest presidential advisors can’t recommend any method of correcting human egoism. Competition and using others remains.

Only the wisdom of Kabbalah, by attracting the upper force not inherent to our level, our life in this world, helps us draw force of love and can show us how to properly work with our egoism. It turns out that egoism is very useful because we build the system of connections above it. By rising above our egoism in the form opposite to it, we discover the upper force of nature.

Egoism has an infinite number of forms of egoistic connections between us, and all of them are forms of the upper force of love and bestowal, but in reverse, like a stamp and its imprint. If not for egoism in its various forms, we would have no possibility of revealing the form of the upper force and attaining it. It would have been elusive.

But because we transform hatred into love, we reveal its shape. All of this we can experience this practically if we sit down in a circle and in half an hour through a simple conversation according to the integral methodology, we begin to discover the beautiful results of our connection.

This is despite the fact that people with opposite views, strangers to each other, are gathered in the circle. This demonstrates that, in reality, there is a positive force hidden inside the connection and it is between strangers. If they sit in the circle together and have a conversation according to the integral method, they begin to discover warmth, unity, closeness, mutual understanding, and a willingness to concede to each other.

They see in what form it is possible to connect and fulfill each other and how to help each other in the circle. From the very first attempt, they discover many laws of connection.

Our egoism is an indisputable fact, and everyone thinks in no other way than egoistically. It is also true that there is no other force in our world apart from it. All of the uniqueness of the wisdom of Kabbalah is in the fact that it knows how to extract from nature the second force that is positive and offsets the negative egoistic force to add plus to the minus, which is the force of connection.

“Foreigners” In The Land Of Israel

laitman_747_01Torah, Deuteronomy 15:03: From the foreigner you may exact; but what is yours with your brother, your hand shall release.

Earlier in the Torah, it is written “Do not oppress the stranger who came to you” or “you were a stranger in the land of Egypt,” and so on.

It is impossible to explain these conditions on the material level because they vary from place to place, and according to the description given in the Torah, from degree to degree. Therefore, we can’t look at it purely pragmatically, in the material way because everything depends on the spiritual degree.

Question: What does it mean on the particular spiritual degree: “From the foreigner you may exact; but what is yours with your brother, your hand shall release”?

Answer: After entering the land of Israel, all are brothers. There shouldn’t be foreigners in the land of Israel because it is a spiritual state when egoism is corrected to a certain extent and absolutely correct interaction, connection, and revelation of the Creator begins between them. Therefore, those who are not yet ready for this are called foreigners.

A “foreigner” in the land of Israel is Klipa (an impure state). As soon as the people of Israel enter this land,1 they immediately start to purify it though their presence and wars with those who lived there, that is, with the uncorrected desires. Therefore, foreigners or the seven nations living in the land of Israel symbolize egoistic desires of the Jews who enter this level.

Question: What was the role of the seven nations who lived there until the people of Israel entered this land?

Answer: They had no role. Internally they are in each person as the impure, uncorrected, egoistic forces that are revealed only when a person fights for the right to be on this spiritual level.

And if he doesn’t fight, he won’t feel them. Without getting closer to the level of the land of Israel, a person can’t discover the seven nations, meaning seven of his egoistic qualities.

Comment: It is interesting that when we tell an ordinary person on the street that human nature is egoistic, he replies, “I am not an egoist, I am a giver.”

My Response: Of course, because he doesn’t reveal this within himself.

New Life #409 – The Judicial System In Society, Part 1

New Life #409 – The Judicial System In Society, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

Summary

What is the role of the judicial system in the education of the people, who is suitable for becoming a judge, and why do people need a legal system to define values of good and evil?

The legal system has to educate people. A judge should explain what is right and what is wrong. A judge who understands the depth of creation must show what the deviations from the laws of nature are.

The legal system comes to complete what the educational system didn’t provide. The legal system must clarify what a person is lacking in order to function as a member of society and to be concerned about its achievements.

In a proper society, there must be a permanent influence from the general social educational system on everyone. For some time every day, every person, from the young to old, must be in the framework of social education.

In the event that someone harms another, everyone must sit and clarify what kind of social neglect occurred.

The role of the judge is to help to lead this social inquiry so the process will be educational.
