Get Out of Pharaoh’s Power

261A slave is one who is enslaved to the pleasure. When people’s pleasure comes from reception, they are called “Pharaoh’s servants” (Rabash, Notes #921 “The Need for an Act from Below”).

Why do we need to be slaves? It is to understand that the egoism that rules over us is Pharaoh. Only by getting rid of it will we be able to achieve other states and a different perception of life.

The Creator develops egoism in us so that we can see how much evil the ego brings us. When we reveal this, we begin to treat egoism as a negative phenomenon and ask the Creator to correct it to the opposite, to altruism.

Include Everyone in Your Prayers

942Question: In prayer, is it better for us to focus on the ten, or can we place the hearts of the entire world Kli in it?

Answer: You can include everyone in your prayers, and I really encourage that. But remember that you must first pray for your ten so that it can unite everyone and thus rise to the Creator.

When everyone strives for unity, it is very easy to achieve. The main thing is that you are all directed toward Him.

Why Are Books Better?

527.06Studying primary sources is the main thing in Kabbalah because great Kabbalists wrote them. We recommend using the works of such pillars of Kabbalah as Baal HaSulam, Rabash, Ari, and Rashbi.

Question: We have a whole sea of different information in our heads. How can we clear our perceptions when reading our primary sources?

Answer: Shake your head so that all sorts of evil thoughts and information fly away.

Question: We have amazing books by Ramchal, Rambam, and others. Is it possible to read them individually if you want to, even though we do not study these books in class? Or does it distance us from the group?

Answer: No, this is not moving away from the group. These books can be studied. But avoid getting carried away with them instead of our lessons. That is when alienation can occur, although in principle it will not take you away from the purpose of creation. These are true books.

Why Was Man Created?

707Man was created in order to achieve awakening, understanding, and the feeling that he is in the hands of the upper force in his development.

This force controls everything that we call this world. We must obey it, explore it, and according to our understanding, come closer to it.

That is exactly what we are trying to do.

Dictated by the Creator

209Question: How can we not limit the study of the Torah to previous impressions and knowledge? How can this approach be applied to all aspects of the methodology?

Answer: You will learn how to do this gradually. The main thing is not to fear a new approach and to always demand a new attitude toward the Creator and what the book says. We mean the Torah, Neviim (Prophets), and Ktuvim (Scriptures), the holy sources, because the force of the Creator is inside them, on which all other details cloth.

Question: What kind of analysis should everyone do for the light to reveal new Reshimot in them?

Answer: It depends on what he wants and how he relates to what is in the sources. The Torah is written as dictated by the Creator. Therefore, by reading it, a person can see, hear, and understand what the Creator thinks about him and what He wants to convey.

Work with the Intention “For the Sake of Bestowal”

509To obtain the property of bestowal, you need to unite with each other.

Then your quality of bestowal will coincide with the quality of bestowal of the Creator, and you will feel that you are in the same world as Him. Everything will fall into place.

Question: How can we transfer our common pleasure to the Creator?

Answer: If you transfer your pleasure to each other, then eventually, you begin to feel a sense of bestowing to your friend and therefore to the Creator.

Our job is to determine how to move closer to the full disclosure of light in our desires because this is what the Creator wants. It is a work of intention, and we must do it that way.

Faith in the Creator

243.04Question: Why can one only adhere to the Creator in the attribute of attainment and not in the attribute of faith?

Answer: In the attribute of faith one cannot adhere with the Creator because faith is achieved by the desire to bestow that rises from below upward toward the Creator, and attainment is given from above downward.

Faith in the Creator is the quality of bestowal, the quality of love, through which we wish to fulfill, delight, and give pleasure to our friends.

Question: How can I determine if my feeling is truly faith in the Creator?

Answer: It is impossible to explain. You will get this feeling within yourself and understand.

Question: Is faith alone enough to enter the land of Israel, into the upper Malchut?

Answer: Faith alone is not enough because it requires the desire to receive, the desire to bestow, the correct balance between them, and, based on this, the quality of bestowal from below upward.

The middle line is the result of the correct combination of the right and left lines.

For the Sake of Your Spouse and Family

630.2Question: In a family, should both husband and wife work in bestowal? What does that mean? For example, as a woman, I cook for the whole family and take care of everyone. What else could my actions be?

Answer: Everything you do for your family is your bestowal to them.

Question: Isn’t that considered as natural behavior?

Answer: No, nowhere is it said that such behavior is considered natural. Why couldn’t the husband do it instead of the wife? It is just the way things are set up and that is why we think it should be like that; but in reality, it is not.

Two completely different people meet, who do not even know each other well, and they start building something together. Each of them should strive to contribute everything he can to this common cause in a way that is enjoyable for the other. Gradually, they learn each other’s character, tastes, and everything else.

Question: So if I work for the sake of my spouse and family, does that mean that I am working in bestowal?

Answer: Yes, for women, it is much simpler.

Question: Indeed, when I work for the family, I feel some self-annulment, and it is not even difficult for me.

You once mentioned your wife, who cooked for your teacher and there was a lot of care and bestowal in this, and he felt it. It may seem like ordinary things, but there is still special effort in it.

On the other hand, it seems that reaching something spiritual is somehow different, another action, another state. Or are they not related?

Answer: Every time you do something, you should include your intention from the start to finish of that action.
