Russia, Turkey And The Beginning Of The Redemption

laitman_434Opinion (Mayin Kfir): “Does the tension between Russia and Turkey herald the redemption? …

“This tense situation recalls the words of the Gaon of Vilna that have passed in a tradition from generation to generation among his students: ‘When the Russian fleet passes through Bosphorus Strait (the Dardanelles) – it will be time to dress in Shabbat clothes to greet the coming of the Messiah.’ This strait is also called the Istanbul Strait, and it separates the European part of Turkey and its Asiatic part, and is in fact constitutes the border between the two continents. …

“In addition, many ancient writers interpret the prophecies of the redemption in the Bible, that before the redemption comes, as part of Armageddon, of the war of Gog and Magog, Magog being the children of the red wave will be aroused to fight with the children of Ishmael. And according to a tradition that is found in the hands of many of the descendants of the students of the Gaon – Magog is Russia.”

My Comment: It is only needed to add that most people do not understand all the talk about the war of Gog and Magog. The concept of the “redemption” is the redemption of humanity from its egoistic nature with which the Creator created it. Kabbalah has been revealed to us to change human nature.

Kabbalah teaches us how we can change our nature with the help of the upper force, the Light. Thus we change the sense of our reality: egoistically we feel what is going on within us; altruistically, we feel what is going on outside of us. The transition from the sensation “within us” to the sensation “outside of us,” meaning, “going outside of yourself,” is realized through the exercise “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (“Leviticus,” 19:18).

The sensation that is revealed is called the “upper world”; this state is the next state of the development of humanity, and this can be reached through peaceful means, which the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches, or by the way of suffering, which is war. We must carry out this choice in our day. The Messiah is the power that reveals the upper world to us. Messiah is derived from the word “Limshoch” – to pull, meaning to pull us out of this lowest world.
