Attaining The Meaning Of Life

Laitman_109Question: Why isn’t there a universally recognized answer to the question about the meaning of life?

Answer: A person should look for the answer to the question about the meaning of life, meaning in this life or in reaching something beyond it.

Question: Is there such a concept as the meaning of life? Is it the same for everyone or is it different for each person?

Answer: If I don’t answer this question, my life has no meaning. What should I live for? This question is asked at the human level and not on the level of an animal.

It turns out that I don’t ask myself about my corporeal existence but about what is above it. What should I exist if I don’t find meaning in my corporeal life? It is better not to be born at all. If I was born, I have to find out why.

Could it be that nature, which has taken everything into account with such precision in all the parts of the system, did not take into account the meaning of my life too?

Taking the logic of nature into account and its perfect laws, such a deficiency could not be. This process has to end and to continue on the next level. This means that everything must have a meaning, but in the meantime we simply haven’t revealed it.

Grow Until We Reveal The Secret

laitman_276_06We are at a level in our evolution when the real meaning of the Torah is concealed from us. When we speak about the secrets of the Torah, we must not forget that the real secret is that it is impossible to share it with others because a person cannot perceive what you discover.

It is like explaining to a small child, for example, a very complicated concept or a top secret device by showing him drawings and tables, but it still remains a mystery to him. One has to prepare for the revelation of a secret.

Therefore, we can only slightly lift the veil that is hiding the secret to show that is there for a person to understand the Torah; it is not a collection of stories. From here onwards it all depends on the person.

It is as if we open the door a bit saying: “Look, this is the next level, this is where the next world is, the entrance to the upper dimension. You can also go up there, see, hear, understand, study, explore it, and exist in it while living in our world. Nothing limits you except yourself. You can expand your attainment, your perception, your knowledge, your impressions, and your senses to the point that they will include all of infinity. But it is up to you! Make the efforts and you will succeed.”

The main point is that a person should see the mystery, not that something is hidden from him, but that he hasn’t grown enough to attain it. If he makes the efforts, the secret will become a reality. It is not protected in any way except by a person’s limited mind and inner feeling.

When the fog clears, a person discovers an enormous field of activity, infinity.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Is Appropriate For Any Age

Laitman_028_02Question: I am already retired; is it too late for me to study Kabbalah?

Answer: What else is there to do?! Just sit in front of the television and wait until life is finished, while during this time you could achieve so much more?

If it happens to be someone’s destiny to become acquainted with the system of the upper world at a mature age, it means that the management system is leading him to spiritual ascent, and during whatever is still allotted to him in this world, he needs to ascend and correct himself.

So begin to study immediately. And it is very good that you are mature; you don’t need to be concerned about distractions; you have a pension for a decent existence. So live your life to ascend to the upper world.

We All Are One Soul, Part 1

laitman_264_01

Life Is the Result of Connection

Question: You say that all of us are connected in a single network; all of us are like one big soul. Today this subject is of concern to many in the world; there is lots of information and many articles about studies on this subject on the Internet. People sense that all of us are parts of one big system. Are we truly parts of a single soul?

Answer: We all are one soul. A soul is a tremendous desire to live, to exist, inherent in all levels of nature. In inanimate nature all atoms and molecules want to exist, to maintain their connection. In order to destroy a compound, energy, heat, or pressure must be applied.

After all, every part of nature seeks to protect itself. This instinct of self-preservation is called the desire to receive, to enjoy, taking care of oneself. To the degree of their development, all kinds of substances connect together, increasing the quantity of components that are included in connection, and then the quality. This is how life evolves on Earth.

Gradually, from amoebas and primitive organisms, all of the complex organisms evolved that lived first in the water and after that emerged on dry land.

We see that all of life comes from the union of parts; it is specifically their connection that produces quantitative and qualitative development on a higher and higher level, until reaching the human. The physiological human body is composed of an immense quantity of components.

But in addition, it has the unique ability of perceiving the world intellectually and emotionally, which is what we call the human mind and heart.

Through the mind and the heart, a person goes beyond the limits of his body, wanting to attain what doesn’t belong to our three -dimensional measurement; he aspires to go out to tremendous distances, going into space, implementing a leap in time and space.

And all of this is thanks to the inner human spirit whose complexity is no longer determined by atoms and molecules but by sensations beyond matter. All physical and seemingly “spiritual” development happens thanks to a more complex organization, a greater connection and the appearance of new connections.

This development is similar to the evolution of computers. The first calculators were completely mechanical, with gears. Then they evolved, becoming electric and then electronic. But everything is derived from simple operations with zero and one. Just as in our life, there is plus or minus. A big plus is a lot of ones and a big minus is a lot of zeroes. But this is the extent of a unit of measure, for everything else is derived from connection, outside of which there is nothing.

All of the complexity and immortality of creation, all of the greatness of the human brain, is determined by the billions of cells in the human brain, each one of them being minus or plus, zero or one.

But when they connect together, they make it possible for us to register an infinite amount of information and compare it to itself. As a result of the comparison of emotional and mental information, a more and more developed human perception of the world appears.

Men And Women: Let’s Consider Nature

Laitman_023Question: I am concerned about the interaction between the male and the female parts of my group. The men have no idea how the women in the group can help the men.

Can I try to work with the men and women in a workshop in order to discuss these matters with them?

Answer: The interaction between men and women, especially in workshops, will lead to distractions associated with sex. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend that except for neccesary technical work.

You can try and you will immediately discover the interference that will nullify all that is spiritual in the group.

This is our nature and we have to take it into account because our success is actually in becoming free of the feelings and the fillings to aspiring for the revelation of the upper network of mutual actions.

Ideological Struggle

Laitman_167If we look at the narrative of the Torah from a historical perspective, it reveals a very interesting picture. The camp of people spread out in the wilderness was in itself a large city with several million people. Artisans, blacksmiths, and goldsmiths worked there.

People really grew roots as the transition from one place to another took many years. The camp didn’t move from its place as long as the cloud didn’t move. Only then did the people move forward 10-20 kilometers and again stop indefinitely. So the Torah allegorically describes a society in motion: it established a goal and advanced toward it.

Incidentally, during communism, they wanted to create an illusory picture of a bright future; there it was clear that the people were moving toward it. But how was it possible to achieve it? So we see different forces in conflict. However, the struggle was not about power, but about ideology: through which means can you advance towards the goal more effectively?

Question: Wasn’t Korach fighting for power?

Answer: No, all this is talking about holy people related only to bestowal and love only. Otherwise it would not have been written about in the Torah.

All the characters referred to in the Torah give shape to a desire that yearns for only one thing: to be in a state of movement toward bestowal and love, full mutual connection. Therefore, Korach frankly argued that it is possible to leap beyond the following level and adhere to the Creator more quickly with minimal loss and investment.

Everything that happened during those forty years happened from a desire to do good, to increase love. But in the end, all efforts were directed against Moses, regardless of whether they wanted to help him or not. But this was not a power struggle to which we are accustomed to in our lives, and therefore is how we perceive the story.

The Torah just describes everything in physical language, but it is necessary to understand that the people moving through the Sinai means that they were discovering the Creator and were beginning to receive the Upper Light of correction, the Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light); they no longer referred to egoism because they were above it, like on a hovercraft. So their calculations were not at all egoistic.

What does it mean that “the ground swallowed them,” “they were burned,” and everything else? These were operations that were being carried out on the egoism that was suddenly discovered in them and needed correction. “Covered by the earth” is already its correction.

Therefore death, leprosy, and things like that were not various kinds of physical processes, but work on the ego. When new external conditions are discovered, we begin to work with them. It cannot be otherwise.
