Israel – A Mystical People

Question: In your opinion, will negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians and the leaders of the Arab nations bring improvement to the situation in Israel?

Not long ago, negotiations were arranged for maintaining the status quo of the Temple Mount, and it was expected that this would bring some calm. However, the next morning, the Arabs carried out three terrorist operations.

Answer: All these talks will lead to nothing. Humanity will not calm down. Our Arab neighbors will not calm down as long as the people of Israel [1] themselves haven’t united between themselves integrally. This is the only solution and means of resolving this conflict.

If we want peace within our borders and security in our nation, we need to achieve unity among the Jewish people themselves. This may seem strange, but nothing else will help.

If we do this, the Arabs will stop their activities because the good relationships between us will be reflected in them and will obligate them to have a good attitude toward us.

Question: Isn’t this like some kind of mysticism?

Answer: Is the anti-Semitism [2] all over the world, the general hatred toward this small people that totals several million people not mystical?

Is it not mystical that such a tiny people has brought culture, education, and all the elements of modern human society to all the peoples? Is it not mysticism that it hasn’t disappeared after thousands of years of exile?

The entire world has become integral and round, acting according to the laws of connection between the forces of right and left, plus and minus, and hot and cold. Everything is in balance, and it is only human beings who act only according to a negative force.

In humanity, there is no positive force! We need a positive force that will balance our ego [3]. The method for awakening the positive force within a person is the method of Kabbalah discovered by Abraham.

He founded his group on its basis by gathering around him those Babylonians who agreed to connect and unite according to the principle of “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18).

That is how Abraham created a group that eventually grew and became the people of Israel. The Jewish people are not based upon an ethnic community like all of the other peoples, but on an ideology, on an idea. We are all different but connected above these differences, as it is written, “…love covers all transgressions” (Proverbs 10:12).

Only thanks to this principle have we existed for all these thousands of years, as soon as we separated, we immediately began to to be killed. In the Scroll of Esther, it is written that Haman, when he was a minister in Babylon, said to the king, “There is a certain people scattered and separate among the peoples … let it be written to destroy them…” (Esther 3:8-9).

So Mordechai came and united the people, which helped them to be saved, and today we again are facing the same need to unite.
