A Collective Cooking Pot Of The Spiritual Filling

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: One of the best ways for people to connect is an open dialog at a roundtable. People who meet at the roundtables for a long time establish good relations between them and feel that they are attracted to one another. Do they have to be connected in certain groups?

Answer: This will happen naturally. The meeting at the roundtable has to be held according to certain principles, of course. It is initially meant for people to get closer, to support one another, to clarify the truth together, and to try to find out not only the common solution, but also the common opinion, the common desire, the common goal, the common understanding and the common aspirations. No one suppresses the others in anyway but only complements him.

At the same time, people who are totally different suddenly begin to understand that the oppositeness during the connection creates a third factor, a common attribute that appears in a totally surprising intensity and by which many possible solutions can be found. So the roundtable is indeed a tool for establishing a society of mutual understanding.

As a result of this training, people come to the conclusion that it is possible to live together without suppressing one another and that the most important thing is to find how to complement one another. Then a middle, common platform is created, which is the third factor, the next level; a kind of a collective “dish” is created that nourishes everyone and from which all can receive their filling.

Thus, a special integral society is created in which everyone is mutually connected, understands everyone’s weaknesses, like in a family respects and complements these weaknesses. It turns out that although we were created as totally different beings opposite from one another, we discover a common integral in the connection between us which, although the average, is very powerful.

Worldview Or Hobby

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Can people’s professions or hobbies become formal designations for integral education platforms?

Answer: This depends upon with what we want to approach people. As a rule, people normally converge on some kind of factor or personal characteristic, for example, bicyclists, ice skaters, those who love to dance, and so forth. This , of course, is no longer a “roundtable.”

The characteristic of a roundtable is that during the course of a discussion about all kinds of subjects (let’s say, the education of children, cooperation among married couples, interaction in society), common knowledge is created between people, a shared global view about the world, about life. There may be people who work in the same company and want to find a common language, which is difficult to do these days. In other words, an integral connection is created when people approach each other on the basis of a worldview and not according to areas of interest or hobbies.

European Debts Are Growing

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from eurostat): “At the end of the first quarter of 2013, the government debt1 to GDP ratio2 in the euro area3 (EA17) stood at 92.2%, compared with 90.6% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2012. In the EU273 the ratio increased from 85.2% to 85.9%. Compared with the first quarter of 2012, the government debt to GDP ratio rose in both the euro area (from 88.2% to 92.2%) and the EU27 (from 83.3% to 85.9%).”

My Comment: This suggests that we have reached the end of and have left the capitalist economy and are floating, or rather, rushing to no one knows where. But since politicians and economists do not know our future state, they are carried in the same boat, or rather raft, with us … The only way out is to write off the debts not through the war, but through transition to the integral economy. But this is only possible to the extent of the preliminary re-education of people. Otherwise, it will happen as under the communist terror in Bolshevik Russia.

Sustainable Development Built On Partnership

Yakovets, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences at the UN General Assembly): “In the end of the 20th century, mankind entered a lasting period of unstable development and global crises (energo-ecological, demographic, technological, geopolitical, and socio-cultural). All components of the present civilization seem to require thorough innovative updating. Why? It is because the world civilization had run its historical course and needs to be replaced with a progressive society of higher consciousness-integral world civilization.

“So far, the predominant strategy is adapting the outgrown system to the new setting and prolonging its agony and intensifying global conflicts thereby. Yet, it is essential, after having defined the contours of future society, to develop and implement a strategy designated to form an integral circuit of civilization, the basis for which is emerging before our eyes—and this will relieve the travails of transitioning to a new phase in the development of our civilization.

“An international team of scientists supports the second position: they provide theoretical ground and propose practical steps toward implementation of strategic breakthrough to the new society. It derives from acknowledging the fact that civilization is undergoing a revolutionary change—a lengthy, agonizing transition from being industrial to becoming an integral and global one.

“The long-term strategic mission is to hasten and facilitate this transition, by equipping progressively thinking forces with clear understanding of where we are going and why and reliable methods for reaching the goals.

“Secondly, the strategy has to ensure indigenously developed, balanced transformation in all facets of society’s life, all six major genotype components of civilization: natural and environmental, demographic, technological, economic, geopolitical, and socio-cultural—by reaching greater sustainability and predictability in dynamic society.

“Thirdly, the primary driving role in implementing the long-term strategic transformation of human society is assigned to the partnership of 12 local civilizations of the fifth generation-the central figures on the 21st century’s geo-economic and geopolitical stage.

“Fourthly, specific institutions, mechanisms, and global civilizations partnership programs have been proposed in order to implement the strategy.”

My Comment: There is a clearly visible problem: Scientists do not care as long as those in power can ensure their safe future. Where scientists are concerned, they don’t share a single view and even less so do they understand the cause and the purpose of crisis, and therefore, they have no plan of action. They offer a lot of buzzwords, nothing more.

This will continue until the wisdom of Kabbalah receives their acknowledgement and ties them together in a unified understanding of the goal and the means. And then, possibly by cooperative effort, directly influencing authorities and the general public via the Internet, we can raise public opinion so that the “rulers” would start to seriously consider transforming society, that is, by forming media designed to nurture society toward the new integral world civilization.

Basically, this is where Kabbalists come in since it is they who must exert every effort in revealing the method of correction of man and the new integral civilization.

Carried By The Current Of Life

Dr. Michael LaitmanWhen opening an article written by a Kabbalist, I must first examine my relation to its author. He must be an unquestionable authority for me while I myself am a mere tiny sliver of wood carried by the water’s current.

I have to be willing to follow him and engage my mind with his, removing all my criticism, feelings, and definitions, absolutely everything. I need to forget everything I know so far, because it has already been processed by my mind, and therefore is flawed. I must withdraw from all my emotions and just enter him.

This is the first stage of the correct reading of a Kabbalistic source: the annulment of self before someone greater, someone who wishes to give me something right now. Later on, I will be able to engage my mind and feelings so I may see how well I connect with what I have read and to what degree I feel and agree with it. But at the same time, I still must be immersed in it.

Not so long ago, it was very difficult to obtain Kabbalistic books, so every piece of paper used by a Kabbalist to scribble on was viewed as a great revelation from above. And even though you didn’t understand one word of it, through these lines you still tried to find the key to spirituality.

And today everything is available in writing, but people don’t want to open these books since spirituality doesn’t entice them. Such is human nature: When everything is too easy to get, it doesn’t seem attractive. But for us, these texts are as vital as air.

The Two Truths

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe unique nature of spiritual work lies in the fact that a person has to get accustomed to being in opposite states. And, despite their polarity, he has to be able to live in both, discerning one from the other as a “benefit of the Light coming from darkness,” and thereby advancing.

This is very difficult for the beginner to understand. After all, in the corporeal world, we act based only on our egoistic desire to feel pleasure; there is no desire to bestow here, and so there is only one truth. And everything that opposes it we consider false.

In spirituality, it is the other way around. Since we assemble the Creator based on the created being, then both ends of the spiritual ladder are the truth. And the greater the evil inclination is, man’s ego, the higher he can ascend; once he will be wicked and another time he will be righteous. And every time these states, so distant from one another, arise in one person.

Therefore, we must view these two states correctly, both ascents and descents: We must rise above them. In other words, there is me and there is my state of being. It can be a descent or ascent but it has nothing to do with my “I” because “I” is the point where I wish to achieve adhesion with the Creator. And I must perceive all the successive states as necessary.

I “don’t pay attention to” my feelings or delve into them, but rather, I assess how effective a given state is, if I rise above it, in achieving the final goal.

Rabbi Shimon Or The Invisible Man

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Book of Zohar was hidden for generations and it was prohibited to even look at. Kabbalists themselves promulgated this ban. The secret that is concealed within it is the Light that Reforms, but reaching this Light is possible only by breaking through the protective shield arranged by Rabbi Abba who re-wrote this text. When Kabbalists write books, they express the content so that it is concealed in a special garb, which we must penetrate through to reach what is inside. Their writing is a revelation, but while revealing one thing, they conceal two.

They help us with this concealment that brings us closer, by allowing us, to some small degree, to touch this secret. In fact, if there were no concealment, we would not be able to see anything at all. It is similar to an invisible man who cannot be seen until he dresses. But as soon as he puts clothes on, everybody can see him.

In other words, the concealment of Rabbi Shimon by Rabbi Abba helps us to approach this secret! But on the other hand, it leaves us room for work: If you break through this shield, you will find Rabbi Shimon. Rabbi Shimon brings revelation to us from above to below, so he must disguise himself. He wishes to pass it onto everyone but can’t since we are not ready to receive it. Hence, he cries (crying is symbolic of a small spiritual state, Katnut).

This entire enormous system regarded as Rashbi (Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai) is not a “person” but an upper system that is forced to reduce itself (which is regarded as “crying”) because the lower ones are unable to receive anything from it. And how must he adjust himself, make an “adapter” between himself and the lower ones, as if between a wide pipe and the eye of a needle? So, then another system is engaged, which is called Rabbi Abba, a unique soul that is capable of serving as an adapter that connects us to Rabbi Shimon.

Finally, Rashbi’s light becomes revealed through the special system of Rabbi Abba that descends to us in the form of the book called Zohar. It is titled by the name of the source from which its Light derives (Zohar means the upper radiance): the Light of Infinity or the Light emanating from the head of Arich Anpin.
