The Whole World Is In Exile, The Entire Earth Is Egypt

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe night of the Passover Seder for a person who has already exited his internal Egypt is a celebration in which he again undergoes the same states as during his exodus, in the same order (seder), and rejoices over his liberation. This helps him rise to the next degree, each time, higher and higher.

That is why, it is written that in every generation, that is, in each state, on each stage of growth of egoism, a person must see himself as if he had just come out of Egypt. And all the corrections that he performs on his egoism will always be accompanied by a reminder of the exodus from Egypt. Only after a person rises above his ego, can he carry out the actions of bestowal, which are called commandments.

On Passover night, everyone is sitting with his family at a festive table and reading about freedom and sufferings of slavery, and of course, feeling the inner pain, desiring liberation. This holiday awakens all the questions of enslavement and freedom again. Now how can we gain freedom, come to a new life, a new state?

We must realize that today we have entered a new era, and if we do not realize our mission, as the people of Israel coming out of Egypt, we will not be able to survive either as a country, or as a people. We will not be able to be Jews because this is our mission—we must send the message to the world to raise everyone, together with us, from the general egoism, owing to which we find ourselves in the current crisis.

This crisis expands more and purposefully pressures us so that we finally want to get out of it with the entire world. By this, we have to set an example to others. Celebrating today, the Passover Seder in 2013, I thus prepare myself for exodus and the freedom that I will attain after that.

This is a salvation from the angel of death, my egoism, which is killing me. I hope that through this I will become the light for the other nations, and they will also know how to come out from Egypt. They will see that our ego keeps us all in exile. The whole world is in exile, the entire earth is Egypt, and we must rise above it.

“Why Is This Night Different From All Other Nights?”

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: The night of the Passover Seder is a special night for the people of Israel. It is thought that on this night this people was born and began its new way. So really, in what way is this night of the exodus from Egypt so unique?

Answer: The person begins to feel that he is found in the Egyptian exile, in slavery to his ego, which is called Pharaoh, and that it is necessary to depart from under its dominance, to flee; yet he cannot do this. He begins to scream internally, he is no longer prepared to endure a life like this. He invests effort in regard to the group, the environment, the teacher, and the books. He really feels that he is in prison, in darkness.

Gradually he sinks into a state that is called the “darkness of Egypt,” the night of the exodus from Egypt. This night is absolute darkness; no hope is left for him, no chance in life. He doesn’t feel that he is prepared to continue to live within his ego, since he hates everyone, and he is unable to relate well to anyone.

He strives to love the friends, to love the other as himself, but he sees the opposite, he becomes worse and worse. The Pharaoh in him, his ego, becomes stronger and more brutal. So in the end, the person is broken, for he sees that he has no chance of leaving this servitude.

He passes through very difficult inner states, which ultimately are amassed together: all of his attempts to flee from his ego, to rise above it, all the victories of the ego that show a person how strongly this Pharaoh is holding him from within. He really finds himself in the middle of the struggle of two forces: On the one hand, the person pushes since he yearns to go free, and on the other hand, the ego hangs on to his legs not letting him flee.

Ultimately, these two forces reach the peak of the struggle between them, and the person finds himself between them, feels absolute darkness. This state is called the night of exodus, the darkness of Egypt. And so suddenly he hears a call from within this darkness: “You must leave! You are ready to do this! You can get up and flee from your ego, here and now, at midnight, that is, from the darkest state. Don’t take anything with you to the new state, except those things that you really need for bestowal, the attainment of unity, the connection, the love”.

In this case the person is ready to leave and flee from his ego, wants to rise above it. This is called his spiritual birth.

When The Desires Come To Life

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, “Introduction to The Book of Zohar,” Item 25: Since the body is so corrupted that the soul cannot be fully purified before it rots in the ground, why does it return at the revival of the dead? And also the question about the words of our sages: “The dead are destined to be revived with their flaws, so it will not be said, ‘It is another.’”

…We stated there that this exaggerated will to receive is all the substance that He had created, for He needs nothing more than that, to carry out the Thought of Creation.

…We also said above, that during the six thousand years that are given to us for work in Torah and commandments, no corrections come to the body—to its exaggerated will to receive. All the corrections that come through our work relate only to the soul, which thus climbs the degrees of holiness and purity…

Our desire to receive is the whole matter of creation. It is divided into ten Sefirot: six Sefirot above, in Galgalta ve Eynaim (GE): HBDHGT until Hazeh (chest), and four Sefirot below, in AHP: NHY.

GE are vessels of bestowal that we can correct, and so we correct them by raising them to the level of Arich Anpin in the course of six thousand years, which makes six hundred thousand (60 times 10,000 = 600,000). But the desire to receive itself remains uncorrected. It is because we have only corrected the vessels of GE and of AHP of Aliyah, but not the real AHP that is also called a “body.” We have only killed it, which means that we disconnect it from actions of bestowal, and this is called the “death of the body.”

But eventually, after the correction of all the vessels of bestowal, we can approach AHP, to perform the “revival of the dead” and correct it so that it will all be in order to bestow.

Here we refer to desires which I have treated as “dead” before, which means that I did not use them, restricted them, and limited them since I couldn’t receive the Light of livelihood in them. But now I take them out to the Light and correct them. These dead desires “are revived in their flaws” since I have to correct all the horrors of the great desire to receive and to change them into the opposite, into bestowal. Then, in them I will receive the greatest Light of NRNHY. Thus, the correction of GE is only a thin line; while below I acquire the whole measure, the whole sphere.

When The Desires Come To Life
Question: What do I discover in the desire that is revived?

Answer: The Creator. You discover the upper force, the upper, eternal life beyond the body. You feel eternity and wholeness above matter, beyond quantum physics. You discover the field in which we actually live, and there you feel the real upper reality and not the tiny particle like you do today.

You feel all that by the correction of the senses. This is why our method is called the “wisdom of Kabbalah” (the wisdom of receiving), which means the wisdom of how to receive, how to perceive. Soon all of humanity will be pushed in this direction. After all, the goal of creation is not that we arrange a wonderful spiritual life for ourselves in this world. It is coming to an end in any case, and we will have to discover the upper dimension.

Stream Of Thought

Stream Of ThoughtQuestion: Lately you often say that we need the positive influence of our mind power upon one another. Is it possible to convey the greatness of the goal and of the Creator by our mind power?

Answer: It’s possible only if you “enter” the other. On our corporeal level we can convey thoughts and corporeal feelings. This is not only by telepathy, but is actually explained by high sensitivity that allows a person to feel another or nature.

In spirituality, however, we come in contact with each other in a general collective desire, in common connected attributes, and so it naturally flows from person to another. This is the attribute of ascent from one level to another when GE of the lower one connects with AHP of the upper one, which is what the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us.

Kabbalists Of All Nations Unite!

Kabbalists Of All Nations UniteQuestion: What should we actually do during the lesson in order to change our inner attributes?

Answer: Before the lesson we, all those who are in different places around the globe, should connect to each other so that we can be together during the lesson and try to absorb it into our collective vessel. It’s because many people attend these lectures, and we have to combine within ourselves all our desires for change, for our upper state where we are all incorporated in one another, where we are one whole, one soul.

Baal HaSulam writes that only one soul was created, the world of Ein Sof (Infinity), and it is gradually revealed to us in 125 levels, first on a small scale and then gradually on an increasingly larger scale. So we have to imagine the state that we enter. We enter it according to the level of our mutual connection, and to that extent that we are filled with the upper Light and begin to feel the world of Infinity. We have to feel all that in the spiritual world and to exist in it.

How Should We Calculate The Spiritual Correction?

How Should We Calculate The Spiritual CorrectionQuestion: What can we do in order to correct all our 613 desires?

Answer: We don’t know in advance what we have to do. This becomes clear to the extent that we participate in the work of the group, and this group is incorporated in a big body, in a bigger group, according to the analogy of our body in which the cells are concentrated in a certain organ and the organ is incorporated and integrated in the other organs.

That is, a system of forces and desires that are connected and are in mutual bestowal and mutual help is gradually formed. The system that is forcefully formed between us is the bedding on which we feel the Light, the upper force that created us or the Creator, which is the same thing.

So we cannot calculate our movement forward. We simply have to move towards an increasingly more internal connection between us, not so much in words and actions, but in our intentions and desires, and in the internal manner try to feel that we are connected in one network.

This is actually what is being revealed to the world today: its interconnection. We don’t discover anything special here but simply try to implement this connection and to be part of it. The fact that it’s revealed to the world as a mutual integral action, as the mutual connection of all of humanity, is perceived by everyone as undesirable and compulsory. We want to discover it as desirable, as something that we have to enter and to exist in, in equivalence with nature, with the Creator.
