General Mobilization

Dr. Michael LaitmanOnly our persistence in feeling the necessity for connection can save us. Stop playing with other things hoping that something will change with time, enough of dealing with other things. All the related activities are necessary only in order to support the main thing: understanding the need for connection.

Here there must be an unceasing collective effort until we succeed. We mustn’t run away or divert from this goal in any other direction. Whatever we do is only meant to reinforce our efforts to connect. We should feel concern that goes from heart to heart, until we succeed. There are no concessions here and the conditions are known: constant fulfillment of the Reshimot (informational genes) according to the principle “I have labored and I have found.” If we can, we overcome, and if we can’t, we don’t. It must be a clear goal before our eyes and we must all mobilize for the mission.

There are new students who don’t understand yet and do not feel total despair; there are old students who have grown too weak and have found themselves caught up by routine. But on the whole, we have to strengthen one another. The prayer can only be for connection; otherwise, it isn’t heard. If we don’t yearn for connection, for mutual bestowal, to bestow upon the Creator, then everything else is all the “potion of death.” We must clarify this thoroughly.

The main thing is the general concern. Even if I don’t actually feel the concern in my heart, I must still show it to others. Even if I don’t feel enthusiastic about the goal of creation at the moment, I must still act before others. Otherwise I must not be part of the society.

It must be the main condition: A person is in the society in order to strengthen the hearts of the friends on the way to attaining the goal by increasing the importance and the greatness of the goal. If he doesn’t do that, there is no room for him here. It is better that a few people reach the goal, since otherwise what is the use of all the millions around us if they don’t attain anything and if the spiritual force doesn’t rule the corporeal level?

So the society should demand from everyone: You either keep your obligation in strengthening the friends as to the greatness of the goal, the greatness of the connection, or you leave. Just like that.

As for beginners, the mission should also be clarified to them to the extent that they can perceive it, since other than that there is nothing.

Many years go by before a person begins to hear to some extent and to perceive the message. But we have accumulated enough experience, powers, knowledge of the sources, and exertion in order to fulfill it. What is more, the external reality demands that we do it.

A Simple Law Of Revelation

Dr. Michael LaitmanEverything is very simple: the Creator is revealed in the connection among us. Therefore I should look for where I can work on the connection among us all day long. Where are the wires that I can stretch in order to connect us to one another? Between whom should they be stretched, between which desires? How should I connect everyone, and by what? What is the work I have to do?

It says that the Creator is revealed in the connection among us. If there are ten people, it is enough. We only have to connect and He will be revealed. But have I taken any practical steps towards connection? We only speak about connection, and the Creator is not revealed. So what should we do? Continue until the Creator is revealed.

It is a law! He will certainly be revealed as soon as the correct need for connection compatible to Him arises and is sufficient for the very first level of revelation, Nefesh de Nefesh. Or we will open up the opposite relationship, the opposite of Nefesh de Nefesh, so we have an indication that a desire to connect occurred and was revealed in the opposite, and then we will cry out so that the Creator will correct us.

This outcry comes automatically, since one action leads to another action. So when we cry out, the Creator will correct the connection among us and will be revealed. The broken part will be revealed to us in the coarsest from of separation between ten people. Then we will discover an increasingly more delicate shattering.

First we discover the shattering in its most primitive form: 10 big parts of egoism, opposite from one another trying to tear one another to pieces with their teeth, instead of connecting and holding on by their teeth, like cogwheels. Then we ask for correction and connect more coarsely, and so the Light of Nefesh de Nefesh is revealed. This is already the revelation of the Creator to the created being.

This is a very coarse form of connection, which we are capable of at the moment, 1/125 of the connection. Then the same thing takes place, but the resolution is higher. There are the same ten Sefirot, but we penetrate more deeply into them by discovering more and more individual parts.

The main thing is to discover the first ten Sefirot, the first level, because this is how you are born and take on a spiritual form. Then in this form, you already begin to improve. The most difficult part is to overcome the first level.

Everyone Spins Independently

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What should we do so that the heart will decide to connect? We have decided to connect so many times, but we don’t know how to start?

Answer: We should build systems that will not let us escape. Imagine that we need to guard a very big herd in which there are many animals, cows, deer, bulls, sheep, etc. We have to know how to treat each type of animal: Some need watchdogs, and others need shepherds, and another type needs a fence so that they don’t run away.

We must provide each type of animal with the right kind of food: Some need grain, and others grass, and all need water. I have to take care of all these things. In the same manner, I also have to take care of the group and to provide it with everything that it needs so that we don’t escape but will successfully and securely achieve our goal.

We have to think about all that, and this is all our work. We have to attain the first ten Sefirot, which means the minimal connection among us. Even if it is egoistic and opposite from spirituality and holiness, it is already a connection. Now we are simply detached from one another, and no one wants to connect with others in any way. We are like cogwheels that do not connect by spinning independently.

Seeing The World Of Ein Sof (Infinity) Behind The Simple Words

Dr. Michael LaitmanConnecting with a friend does not mean following his mind. When I subdue myself and hear what he says, it isn’t in order to later do what he says. I have to subdue my ego, but it doesn’t mean that I have to accept his advice.

I subdue myself before the inner connection among us. It is a totally different thing. I hear what he says, and I have to accept it as something that comes from the greatest in our generation before whom I subdue myself, discovering his inner level there, where he is in his spiritual height. Ein Sof is part of each of us; I actually subdue myself before this spiritual level in my relations with the friend, but not with regards to his corporeal opinions.

This is a very important subtlety. We don’t understand that all the worlds are in the relations among us, including the actual world of Ein Sof.

The World Faces A 1,000-Year Decline

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Robert J. Gordon, Stanley G. Harris Professor of the Social Sciences, Northwestern University): “This paper raises basic questions about the process of economic growth. It questions the assumption, nearly universal since Solow’s seminal contributions of the 1950s, that economic growth is a continuous process that will persist forever. There was virtually no growth before 1750, and thus there is no guarantee that growth will continue indefinitely. Rather, the paper suggests that the rapid progress made over the past 250 years could well turn out to be a unique episode in human history. The paper is only about the United States and views the future from 2007 while pretending that the financial crisis did not happen. Its point of departure is growth in per-capita real GDP in the frontier country since 1300, the U.K. until 1906 and the U.S. afterwards. Growth in this frontier gradually accelerated after 1750, reached a peak in the middle of the 20th century, and has been slowing down since. The paper is about ‘how much further could the frontier growth rate decline?’ The analysis links periods of slow and rapid growth to the timing of the three industrial revolutions (IR’s), that is, IR #1 (steam, railroads) from 1750 to 1830; IR #2 (electricity, internal combustion engine, running water, indoor toilets, communications, entertainment, chemicals, petroleum) from 1870 to 1900; and IR #3 (computers, the web, mobile phones) from 1960 to present. It provides evidence that IR #2 was more important than the others and was largely responsible for 80 years of relatively rapid productivity growth between 1890 and 1972. Once the spin-off inventions from IR #2 (airplanes, air conditioning, interstate highways) had run their course, productivity growth during 1972-96 was much slower than before. In contrast, IR #3 created only a short-lived growth revival between 1996 and 2004. Many of the original and spin-off inventions of IR #2 could happen only once – urbanization, transportation speed, the freedom of females from the drudgery of carrying tons of water per year, and the role of central heating and air conditioning in achieving a year-round constant temperature. Even if innovation were to continue into the future at the rate of the two decades before 2007, the U.S. faces six headwinds that are in the process of dragging long-term growth to half or less of the 1.9 percent annual rate experienced between 1860 and 2007. These include demography, education, inequality, globalization, energy/environment, and the overhang of consumer and government debt. A provocative ‘exercise in subtraction’ suggests that future growth in consumption per capita for the bottom 99 percent of the income distribution could fall below 0.5 percent per year for an extended period of decades.”

My Comment: Humanity must provide itself with everything necessary, but not more, and all of its resources should be directed to its re-education, creating humane interaction; this is programmed by nature, and we will have to realize this. Kabbalah explains how to do this!

IMF: World Economic Crisis To Last 10 Years

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Olivier Blanchard, IMF chief economist): “Olivier Blanchard, chief economist at the International Monetary Fund, said it will take at least ten years to recover from the meltdown caused by the banking crash of 2008.”

My Comment: But the crisis is not over yet, and who knows how it continues, what its nature and course are. The crisis will end only when we understand its cause and find the means of correcting it and address the root cause of the crisis.

For this we need to think not how to mitigate the state, but how to find the cause of the disease according to its symptoms and a remedy and to cure the disease itself, its cause. Is there anybody in the EU, or in the world, who studies this? If not, then it is not logical to talk about exiting the crisis.

Absorb The Whole Of Society

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Social science is based on two models that run parallel. One is called the macro-sociological model where the individual personality traits are not taken into account, meaning a person is an object. Another is the micro-sociological model where a person is a subject, and his personal qualities and characteristics are used. Is a person an object or subject in the integral community?

Answer: They both are completely interconnected; otherwise, it’s not integrality. Integrality is not just a sum, but one whole. When all the people act deliberately in the name of the community, then each of them is at the height of this community, becoming its principal member and without disturbing the rest. This is the same analog system in which each smallest element is the most important because if it doesn’t exist, the system is not whole.

Comment: There is a standard anecdotal situation: One is clever, the other one is handsome, and together they participate in building society. Who has the advantage?

Answer: In the integral society no one has any advantage; everyone is very important. Everyone individually, due to his qualities, adds what is necessary to the entire community. One is not like the other, but everyone is equal because relative to integrality each is valued as an element without which it will not exist. Everyone contributes 100% for the system to exist.

Question: So, is everyone both a subject and an object, but without mixing the two characteristics?

Answer: There is no mixing; he connects all this integrally inside because in order to be an integral member of the community, he must feel inside himself all of its properties, desires; he must absorb the whole of society; it must live in him!

Attaining The World Through The Lens Of The Group

Dr. Michael LaitmanI have to attribute all the powers I get to one source so that by acting together with them, I will be able to analyze myself and the whole world and then start operating in the opposite direction towards the source on my own.

There is me and this upper source, and between us there is the whole world. But the whole world can be compressed to the dimensions of one group so that it is clearer to me how I should work with it most effectively. Then I don’t have to clarify my attitude towards the whole world, towards all of reality, but the group is enough for the time being. All of reality is focused for me in this group, like through a lens.

If I work with nine other friends with regard to the Creator, like through a magnifying glass, then in this lens, I focus the whole world, the entire view of the universe: from me to the Creator and back to me. This is how the law that says that the general and the particular are equal operates. This is why the infinite creation with the infinite number of Partzufim and worlds are concentrated in the ten Sefirot that I determine, through which I relate to it. All of reality is now concentrated in the one particular section that I have chosen.

This is a great help for us and it is possible thanks to the shattering. Before the shattering there were no general and particular, which only appear after the shattering. Thanks to this we can achieve better results by attaining the general through the particular.
