The World At A Different Frequency

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: You say that we have to develop our sensitivity. Can you explain why this is necessary and how to do it?

Answer: The path of spiritual attainment lies in raising our sensitivity. Habit becomes second nature. We develop such qualities and abilities in us that we did not use previously and did not even understand the possibilities were present in us to feel phenomena that we did not perceive until now. They are present in nature around us because the upper world is here. But where is it? It exists at a different frequency, in a different quality that does not exist inside me, which is why I do not recognize it.

Therefore, everything depends on how much we will increase our sensitivity to the quality of bestowal. According to that, instead of perceiving the net of absorbing inside me that operates between the creatures on the still, vegetative, and animate levels, I will perceive the net of bestowal operating between the souls on the human or “speaking” level. This is what we have to attain. Therefore, everything depends on our sensitivity.

  1. Is the matter, so-to-speak, amplitude as well as frequency? In the analogy of the mathematics — every neighborhood of point on a “well-behaved” function (region near a point on a curve) may be considered in a “Fourier transform” — all frequency components are represented there at some level, but we may not have the sensitivity — either due to sensitivity in frequency and/or amplitude (magnitude).

More to the point, one may consider the said neighborhood to be a Taylor series. Here, within the neighborhood is the secret of the rate of change, the rate of change of the rate of change, etc. — root cause and branch effect as it were, all the way up. It is a matter of sensitive measure of differences, and difference of differences — identifying components and magnitudes.

“Well-behaved” is a particularly telling requirement in mathematics, as it warns us of the need to develop measures and analysis in science, vs. the irresponsible tendency to assume and speculate in philosophy. This appears to be in direct agreement with the Kabbalists.
