Life Is In The Connection Between Us

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What does it mean to feel the connection between us? How do I do that?

Answer: To feel the connection between us is to come to feel that we all exist in one system and are dependent on one another, so much so that I cannot make even a tiny movement independently. This is a rigid system created Above, which is gradually being revealed as an unbending law.  We have to feel the life that is contained within, where the connection between us will reveal itself and become more apparent. And the life that flows through this connection is called the “spiritual world.”

Intention At The Convention

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What intention will help me reach “the prayer of the many” at the upcoming convention?

Answer: Our convention is dedicated to the revelation of the connections of love between us, as it is said: “Israel are friends to one another.” Isra-El means “straight to the Creator.” Any person in the world is referred to as “Israel” when he intends to reveal the Creator.

It is clear that “the Israel prayer” is always “the prayer of the many,” and the intention is to attain the mutual guarantee, as it is written: “We shall do, and we shall hear.” In other words, we will establish a connection between us and reveal the Creator within it; we will reach adhesion and similarity of properties with the force of bestowal.

Just like all our work, the upcoming convention is designed to explain to the people the work that they need to do. The exile is over. We have returned to the Land of Israel, and we need to rise to the level of Israel, straight to the Creator.

This is why nature constantly pressures us so that we would discover the connection between us and then explain the purpose of creation to the nations of the world. This is what it means “to be the light for the nations,” meaning to help all of mankind reveal the universal connection and rise to the spiritual level.

The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us that the time of existence of our world is 6,000 years beginning with the first correction until the end of it. Today the year is 5,771, and we must complete all the corrections in the time period that remains until the year 6,000.

Placing The Priorities In The Correct Order

Dr. Michael LaitmanOn the path toward the goal we need to concern ourselves with the order of priorities. We act according to our desires and hence have to structure them according to their importance. The desires arranged in the order of priority comprise a line by which a person advances toward the goal.

The most important desire is placed directly in front of him, and hence, when he demands correction, his prayer is directed at the revival of the Shechina from the ashes. The Shechina is the Kli, and building the Kli is our primary task at the moment. A person is unable to come into contact with the Creator until the vessel is ready.

This is why the group and the mutual guarantee are crucial for us. Without them, all the other calculations that a person makes will be incorrect. Right after the mutual guarantee, we will reveal the Kli of mutual bestowal, and we will all rise above the desire to receive pleasure to the desire to bestow, to repentance from fear. After that, we will reveal the intentional and unintentional transgressions. Once we have corrected them, we will arrive at repentance from love and reveal the Creator, the One to Whom we bestow.

But each time a person must build a line, where each point represents his desires in the order of the most important to the least important ones.

Awakening In The World Of Atzilut

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Zohar and The Study of the Ten Sefirot describe the different levels of correction of the common system and the way it operates. I now reveal myself in a particular state, like Malchut of the World of Atzilut because spiritual perception begins from the moment I incorporate myself in it. I reveal that Malchut exists in a small state (Katnut) or a big state (Gadlut) and then goes through seven states as she gradually approaches her final correction.

While each of the seven stages is divided into a multitude of private states, this is the only thing that the Book tells us about: how to keep revealing a more perfect, connected, and unified system every step of the way. And in this system I reveal everything: myself, the World of Infinity, and the Creator, and all my future states!

I Was Just Looking!

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe wisdom of Kabbalah talks about the correction of the relationship between the broken, egoistic souls and us needing to restore the connection between them and lift the souls from the ruin. Obviously, all of this is taking place inside a person, as “everyone measures the world according to his own flaws.”

But only we, being uncorrected, see the ruin. It is similar to modern physicists who claim that by looking at the universe we change the processes taking place within it. Physicists are starting to discover that we influence reality even with what we see or think.

One might think: “How can something possibly change only by looking at it?” It is a typical response, similar to when we break something and say: “I didn’t do anything, but look what happened.” Essentially this means that physics has acknowledged that “everyone measures the world according to his own flaws,” just as the wisdom of Kabbalah says that we don’t see the world as perfect because we ourselves are flawed.

To the degree of the breaking, we see only ruins around us, but to the degree that we become perfect, we see perfection. Hence, all concealments originate in us, inside the breaking which conceals the World of Infinity from us. And the wisdom of Kabbalah explains our advanced states to us: how to correct ourselves and see an increasingly perfect world.

The more you correct yourself, the more perfect the world in front of you will become.

The System Of The Twelve Tribes

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Zohar, Chapter “VeYechi (And Jacob Lived),” Item 694: “Happy is one who engages in the Torah properly, happy is he in this world and happy is he in the next world. Thus far, the government of Judah, a seed that was included in everything. The three lines, by the force of all the sides—south, north, east—meaning the three ties in the arm, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun together, are as banners. Judah is the illumination of the right line; Issachar is the left line, and Zebulun is the middle line, so Judah will prevail over the entire Sitra Achra.”

While reading The Zohar, we want to see through these words what particular connection between us they describe. The 12 tribes are the common structure of the connection between all souls. All souls who enter the connection with one another ascend to the connection between the 12 tribes or parts of Malchut, the collective soul. More and more uncorrected souls from the “nations of the world” or “the wicked” join this connection, become corrected in their intention, and join the system of the 12 tribes.

Therefore, while reading The Zohar, we need to see how we also “plug into” this communication network. We desire to be in this connection and to reveal in it how the Creator interacts with us. We wish to receive an impression from this, the vital energy and force of bestowal, and to reveal all these actions “face to face.”

This is called that we want to uncover everything that we are reading about in The Zohar.

The Family Saga In Ten Sefirot

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Can you explain in general words what we are studying in Talmud Eser Sefirot (TES), Part 15? I don’t understand any of it.

Answer: Part 15 of TES is entitled “The Construction of Nukva.” First, Nukva was created, then broken, and now we are studying how to reconstruct her, meaning in which order to pick up her pieces and how, by way of which forces, to put the pieces together into a corrected structure.

Hence, the chapter is entitled “The Construction of Nukva.” The author says, “You wish to rebuild it? Please, go ahead. But keep in mind that you must learn to work with her substance. It will resist. Its parts depend on each other, and all of them have their own personality.”

However, how do I get all that I need to “build Nukva,” my soul? In truth, I myself have nothing. If I start asking this question, I start seeing a solution. It turns out that there are Upper participants in this construction process, Father and Mother (Aba ve Ima), from whom the entire Light of Wisdom and strength descend. Still, you will receive not from them, but from the two spiritual rungs nearest you. They will deliver to you the Light of Hassadim (Mercy), strength, and the Light of Hochma (Wisdom), knowledge.

You have to get to know them so that the relationship you establish with them will enable you to construct yourself as they did. After all, at present, you are formless, raw material. However, when you start building your relationship with them, then from each of your contacts with them, you will be acquiring forms like a stamp from a seal. These forms that you acquire for yourself are what is called “the Construction of Nukva.”

Baal HaSulam describes it in an expressive language, explaining how the spiritual system relates to you. He brings you in contact with the spiritual world, which you gradually discover before yourself.

You must yearn for its revelation!  And when it does start to unfold, you will see that it is similar to how in our world you get to meet your family, your father, mother, grandmother, grandfather, brothers, and sisters. You enter a family where everyone has their own personality and status, relationships, and problems. You must step into this family and become part of it, and then you will receive your definite form.

It is a very lively and human picture. It gradually becomes very easy to understand as if you are learning from life itself its laws and inner psychology. The most difficult part is the first contact. Until you “open the door and step into the house,” you are lost in the attempts to guess what is inside. However, once you enter it, you start getting around.

The Creator’s Secret Agent In School

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What should a child’s proper environment be like?

Answer: A child will always grow up to be like his environment. This is why caring for the environment is the same as caring for the child.

Think of the ways to influence his environment and control him indirectly by giving him games, books, and videos that contain the information you chose for him, but that is presented to him in an interesting manner. Teach children to protect themselves from bad, outer influence and also show them how to resist it on their own; give them the power to stand on their principles. After all, the system of values is built on the opposition of good and evil.

There is no problem building a good environment for children if parents arrange it. It is easy to bribe a child with games and sweets and, gradually, to connect him to the necessary environment. Then, it will begin to influence him.

Also, the teacher needs to have the ability to get down to the level of a child so the child will not feel that the teacher is bigger. He should sit with the children, play with them, and speak like them. He should invade the children’s environment like a secret agent and work with them. Then, he will be able to pass his spirit on to them and lift them gradually. However, if the teacher is higher than them, then the children perceive him like furniture. They run among the legs of the adults and push them around so that the adults will stop bothering them. They have their own world.

In other words, everything needs to be organized for the attainment of one purpose: to develop love for others in children in order to reach love for the Creator through it. This is the intention that a child must have in the beginning of his life and at the end of every action. It is specifically at this young age that this is easy and possible. If you instill love for others in your child from an early age, you will guarantee the highest degree of safety and success for him in life.

How Can We Influence Our Children?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What does it mean to “raise a child with the ‘Torah and commandments’ and with the intention to bestow to the Creator instead of love for himself?”

Answer: Commandments are the steps of the correction of our egoistic desire, the desire to receive pleasure, which becomes revealed more on every step as if to hinder love between us. However, when we correct this egoism that pushes us apart and turn it into bestowal, love manifests itself specifically in it, that is, it becomes our ally. This is what we refer to as the Torah and commandments.

The Torah is the Light that Reforms, love and bestowal, and commandments are the actions of correcting the human desires into love and bestowal. The Torah is the method that allows us to attain love, union, and bestowal because it contains the Light, the force of correction. This Light created the desire, and only it can correct it. However, there is a condition: We must desire the correction, evoke the Light to act. This is the role of man.

Children are raised neither by their  father nor mother, nor by the school teacher. Even if you were the greatest of Kabbalists, you would not be able to raise a child; only the proper society can do it. No matter how much parents put into their children, children do not take anything from their parents, but rather fall under the influence of their environment on the street or in school,  and there they receive all their models of behavior and life values.

They perceive their fathers and mothers as a system and not their environment. The environment is something that is close to the children. It speaks a language the children understand and it also understands them. They are on one level. The need for the environment arises around the age of three to four, and it is necessary to place proper boundaries around them.

In the wisdom of Kabbalah, we learn that we only perceive either the Partzuf that is equal to us or a higher one that has descended to us. We do not perceive above the level equal to us. This is why a child perceives the father and mother as those who must serve him.

This is why it is only possible to educate through the environment. Create a proper environment for your children. Then, you will be able to influence them.
