Kabbalah Moments: Stay Natural

Freedom Is The Gift Of The Primordial Snake

Dr. Michael LaitmanAt some point we come to realize that our entire life can be divided into two periods according to how the Upper Governance, the Creator, treats us. The first “half” is our childhood, when nature (everyone around us) protects us in every way, and the second “half” is when this protection ends. I become an adult and nature starts pressuring, demanding, and loading me with responsibilities.

It is difficult to understand why things are this way as well as why a human being is born absolutely helpless, falling into the arms of his mother and father and becoming a burden on society. And why in the second part of his life, as soon as he becomes self-sufficient, he has to work hard and worry about how to protect others and provide a happy childhood for them just like it was provided for him.

This is a reflection of a spiritual law where the lower part (AHP) of the Upper Partzuf descends to the upper part (Galgalta Eynaim) of the lower one in order to push him forward. This happens because our qualities and the Creator’s qualities must penetrate one another, and this occurs in the reverse form, by way of the breaking, known as “Adam HaRishon’s original sin.” With the help of the original Evil (the snake), we acquire a special hollow area within ourselves, the place for the future soul. It is the place where we will find ourselves merged with the Creator and attain His height, having known good and evil.

This is the path we will have to walk. For now we still don’t possess this point of independence and we are governed with the help of “angels” from Above (Upper Forces). In other words, everything we have comes from Him. The Light acts first in everything and we are just derivatives of it.

How, then, do we make the creature primary and the revelation of the Creator, the construction of the Creator within the creature, secondary? If I existed in this world without any support and there weren’t any Kabbalists before me, where would I gain an opportunity for free will, this profound point?

The Creator can give me everything else, but this freedom mustn’t come from my will to receive pleasure because even though this desire is completely opposite to Light, it is still fully governed by the Light, only in the reverse form. The Light acts, and my will to receive jumps to the opposite side, like on a swing. So where does my independence come from, without which all creation would have no purpose?

We receive it precisely from the primordial Evil. We have nowhere else to get it from.

How Does Our Spiritual "Tamagotchi" Work?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What is the working principle of the spiritual “stimulator,” the system of questions that we now want to use in our work?

Answer: There is a spiritual law that states, “Any unity contains the Upper Force.” The sages said: “It is impossible to conquer a city defended by a unity of sinners as a defensive wall.” In other words, the city is occupied by sinners, but if they are together they are protected by the Upper Force. This force is present in them in the reverse form, as an “impure force,” yet it is impossible to defeat since it is the force of the Creator, used in its opposite guise.

We also wish to use this principle. If we think about something together and combine our desires, then this common thought produces a virtual space and an external manifestation such as questions, answers, video clips, music, and a social network I can enter in order to receive an impact.

Besides, we place our expectations in it, all our hope and faith for the future, and all our heartfelt aspirations. This draws the Upper Force, which is able to sustain this system thanks to our unity. Now imagine that 100,000 people entered it! How strongly would it impact you? It isn’t just a force that’s 100,000 times greater, but a force of unity and connection that contains the Upper Force within. We must not forget this.

As a result, from Above the Creator will start influencing us and revealing Himself to us. In truth, there is no “up” or “down” in spirituality because everything is within us! All of our spiritual future is inside the “Tamagotchi” or “stimulator” and each of us can benefit from it. I entered it and felt an impact. If you will be more sensitive and treat it with respect instead of neglect, you will feel its impact.

This stimulator functions according to the principle observed in our egoistic world, such as in a troop, a brigade, a mafia net, or any solid union of men. According to Kabbalistic principles, unity draws the Upper Force since we desire to be together as one man in order to attain the quality of bestowal.

Moreover, when I enter the stimulator, I wish to receive a response from this system so it will impact me. I don’t just fill in the answers;  I do it with the intention of being impacted. I value this virtual space as the power of the group under whose influence I wish to change. Then, it will influence me for sure!

Otherwise, what else do we have to represent our society and express our attitude toward others? In this system we can give these feelings form: We can see, respond, and get in touch with what we call our society and our environment.

We’re Building A New Reality!

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Zohar, Chapter “VaYechi (And Jacob Lived),” Item 26: “And he called his son Joseph.” Jacob questioned his sons and told them, “I see many and great troubles coming over your children. It is necessary to find higher Rachamim [mercy].

Everything described in the Torah, The Zohar, and all the “holy books” (books written by Kabbalists, those who attain the Upper World based on their sensation of that world) takes place exclusively inside of us. Nothing exists outside of us!

Our entire current reality, everything we feel now is intended only to help us awaken to the perception of a new reality, or more precisely, to form it inside of us. We have to change our qualities and then we will form the world to come, a new reality inside us. There is no time or external changes. We are only being awakened with the help of unpleasant states in order to change and see the only true reality, the World of Infinity.

The Easiest Path To Spirituality

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, Rabash, and other great Kabbalists tell us that if we desire to advance, the easiest way to do so is never to stop thinking and imagining that we are all together. They are describing the spiritual reality while already being there. But how can we get there? To do this we have been given an auxiliary means: to imagine that we are connected through love and mutual guarantee with our friends who also desire to attain the same reality.

In this way, by doing my inner work I enter a state that is concealed from me. I don’t see it yet and I can’t imagine or understand it. Therefore, let’s imagine that we are together. This will definitely bring us closer to revealing the reality described by The Zohar.

Demand The Ability To Feel

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Besides the desire to understand The Zohar, I also really want to remember the definitions of words in order to connect them to each other. What should I do if I constantly forget?

Answer: You need to demand to feel! It is very good that you forget. Kabbalists prayed to forget everything they learned every minute. There is always a break between the degrees when everything you attained on the previous degree is forgotten and erased from your sensations and memory.

We attain in sensations in the corrected desire. All the names and titles about which we read in The Zohar (HaVaYaH and Elokim in all the various combinations and manifestations) are revealed in the corrected desire. When they are revealed one after another in my desire, I begin to work with my feelings just like in our world.

It seems to a person that feelings are less important than the mind. However, feelings come and unite with the mind in order to help or serve it. If we learn all the parts of Study Of The Ten Sefirot, this is just to rouse us to use all this knowledge as a basis to demand feelings. After all, “learning” means “uniting,” and “knowledge” is unification or adhesion (Zivug).

The Light That Burns Through The Hearts

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: You said that in order to comprehend The Zohar we have to make an “an opening in the heart.” Who makes this “opening?”

Answer: The Light! I myself am unable to do this. Only the Light can. As if through a magnifying glass, the beams of Light concentrate and become so powerful that they “burn through” your desire to feel pleasure thereby creating an “opening.”

Question cont.: Why can’t we make this “opening?”

Answer: It is not our job to make this happen. When two hearts unite through their desires, it is called the “openings” in the walls of their hearts. A wall in the heart means a whole heart, but we need the broken hearts. If our hearts, yours and mine, are “breached” and we connect these “breaches,” the job is done. I want what you want, and you wish what I wish. We are bonded already. If two have united and are connected in the quality of bestowal, that’s where the revelation takes place.

How powerful this revelation will be is based on everything you and I have in our hearts, besides the breaking and these “breaches” connected together. There are thousands of obstacles in your heart, all sorts of thoughts and worries; I have them too.

To the extent we are able to overcome these obstacles and stay connected, grounded in them all and constantly holding ourselves above them in order to remain in the common sensation of the quality of bestowal (since only through partnership can we stay in it), to that degree are we able to attain the property of the Creator in the connection between us. Thereby, we try and discern the taste of bestowal.

Question cont.: How do we connect the “breaches” in our hearts?

Answer: It is done by the Light. Our job is only to wish for it to happen. No other action is necessary! While reading The Book of Zohar, you wish for its words to “drill” and open a “porthole” in you.
