Our friends from Sweden report that a TV channel in Goteborg, Sweden began broadcasting the film, “The Way to Yourself.” An audience of 600,000 read the following text in the television program:

“The Way to Yourself,” a documentary film by Semion Vinokur. In this film, Professor Michael Laitman explains that all our society and economic problems have just one cause – egoism. The film looks at why it is so difficult for us to understand and love one another, and how to accomplish this. The television program is organized by the Kabbalah group in Sweden.

The quality of the broadcast is very high. The program’s opening night was preceded by an interview with Kabbalah students Thomas and Mikhael by the local mass-media. The film is broadcast in the evening, four times per week, at the best viewing time for the television audience.

In addition, they will be showing the lesson series “Kabbalah Revealed” by Tony Kosinec from Canada. We hope this series will have a big audience and will help people to properly assess the situation that humanity has found itself in at the end of the 20th century.

In the News (from The Wall Street Journal): “Unemployed Lose Fallback Options” The growing ranks of unemployed Americans are turning to the traditional fallbacks – retail, restaurants, customer service – to ride out a rough economy. In many cases, that desperation means that even educated workers must trade down to jobs below their potential and with lower pay.

My Comment: This reminds me of something the Russian poet, M.V. Issakovsky, once wrote:
“Now any trade is respected, it doesn’t matter which – A man is honored simply by having a job.”

If a person harmoniously blends into the global system, where we are all interconnected as parts of a body, if he performs his function, then it is a blessing for everyone. And he should then receive the appreciation of the whole of humanity!

In the News (from Reuters): “One in 10 Americans gets help from U.S. to buy food” Food stamps, the major U.S. anti-hunger program, helps poor people buy groceries. A record 32.2 million people – one in every 10 Americans – received food stamps at the latest count, the government said on Thursday, a reflection of the recession now in its 16th month.

My Comment: So, we have entered the seven years of famine and are now finding that we are slaves to our egoism, which has put us into this crisis. But even as we recognize this, we don’t know what to do. And the members of the G-20 demonstrated this inability to act at their recent summit.

When a person feels that he is enslaved by his ego, this feeling is called “exile.” Exile is when one feels pressure in his life, almost like labor contractions, which happen in order to go from this life to the Upper Life.

Today, as we watch all the troubles pouring down on humanity, we should understand that this feeling of universal exile will soon spread throughout the whole world and will be expressed inside every person. This will happen gradually, because it will happen to a huge mass of people, each at his individual level of development and his own mentality. People may own everything they could possibly want, but when the egoistic desire to receive pleasure grows in each person, everyone will begin to experience a horrible depression, darkness, and dissatisfaction in life. Meantime, the blows hitting us will become more and more qualitative.

However, these blows will not leave us without work or food. On the contrary, they will occur on the mental level. A person will have no means to revitalize himself, and will constantly feel dissatisfied, verging on despair.

Maybe it seems to us that all the problems pouring down on us now are happening on the material level. But later we will reveal that, in actuality, they are spiritual problems. After all, the goal of creation is to advance everyone to similarity to the Creator.

If a “point in the heart” – a desire for spirituality (bestowal, not to be confused with other definitions of “spirituality”) has not yet awakened in a person, he understands everything taking place only through the existence of his physical body: food, family, the state of society, and so on. Thus, he is unable to recognize that these are spiritual problems.

Even if the pleasure a person lacks is spiritual, he is incapable of understanding that this is what he lacks. It is only when something bad happens to him in the corporeal life that he begins to understand that he feels bad because he lacks spirituality. This is how egoism gradually develops in us along four stages, where the animate stage gives rise to the spiritual one.

This is why the whole world is in a state of an economic crisis. Why is the crisis economic in particular? What does all of this have to do with the economy? The fact of the matter is that this is precisely the language that we all understand. But in actuality, it is a lack of Light.
